PewDiePie's latest video is not just an attack on podcasts as a whole, but on Joe Rogan specifically, as he brands the podcaster 'dumb' and claims the medium has gone too far.
While he might not be the most subscribed to YouTube channel anymore, Felix "PewDiePie" Kjellberg is perhaps enjoying his more 'relaxed' approach to content creation on the platform.
A result of this is perhaps the freedom to be a bit more gung ho with his statements, and his recent video has put the target on one of the biggest names in the podcast space, alongside the medium at large.

"Can you guess how many podcasts there are in the world?" Asks Kjellberg at the start of his newest video titled 'Podcasts have done too far..', to which he exclaims: "Too many, that's what it is!"
"Not everyone is interesting enough to have a podcast," he goes on to argue, before quickly setting his sights on the top podcast in America - The Joe Rogan Experience.
Joe Rogan has running his podcast for nearly 15 years now, producing over 2230 episodes to date. It has remained among the top spots on the podcast charts for a number of years now, and has featured a number of high-profile guests.

That isn't quite enough to impress PewDiePie though, who, after listening to an episode for the first time, claimed that Rogan is: "respectfully, very dumb."
"He's a comedian," argues PewDiePie, "but there's a compilation of him not understanding jokes, and it's really f****** funny."
He then goes on to argue that the appeal of Rogan's podcast is largely due to the guests, but points out that while the 'smart' guests are clearly working for the podcast, it also shows "just how dumb he is" in comparison.

Rogan has, in the past, been criticized for his guest choices, particularly surrounding the US election. While his episode with President-elect Donald Trump has garnered over 50 million views, he refused to budge to accommodate Democratic candidate Kamala Harris.
Those on the r/JoeRogan subreddit haven't exactly taken Kjellberg's comments to heart though, and have even partly agreed with his assertions.
"To be fair," one user argues, "PewDiePie watched a Joe Rogan dumb moments complication. That's probably not the best way to get an unbiased impression of someone."
Another replied, however, backhandedly asking if there is a "smart moments complication of Rogan," continuing on to point out the he "is a comic and half of Theo's jokes are flying over his head."

One commenter even points out that Rogan is often aware of his own 'shortcomings': "Doesn't Joe call himself a moron about 3 times per episode?"
With the entrenched popularity of both Rogan and PewDiePie however, these comments are likely not to even scratch their popularity, and can perhaps be taken instead as a less-than-friendly poke from one social media giant to another.
