Moment Elon Musk 'rage quits' Path of Exile on livestream as he's brutally trolled by commenters

Gamers have hit back against the richest man in the world

Being the richest man in the world can get you a lot of things, but seemingly it can't get you sympathy with the gaming world as Elon Musk was brutally trolled by comments in his latest live stream, leading to an embarrassing rage quit.

Elon Musk certainly loves a good dungeon-crawling ARPG, as he's gushed about both Diablo 4 and Path of Exile 2 in the past couple of years - even in part of that conversation revolved around accusations of cheating and account boosting.

While his record-breaking skills weren't exactly in full force in his most recent stream on X, it was comments from the wider gaming community that appeared to rile him up the most, causing him to 'rage quit' his Path of Exile 2 session.

Elon does hop on a gaming stream every once in a while, but the purpose of this particular session was to show off Starlink's internet capabilities.

He was in fact streaming from a private jet in the air, using internet from the SpaceX subsidiary to sustain both the video feed and the game - and it performed surprisingly well!

That was just about the only good thing that came from the stream though, as Elon's mistake of revealing his in-game name led many to hop into the server, hunt him down, and repeatedly spam trolling comments in the world chat.

As reported by Futurism, the stream snipers had a full deck of insults to hurl at the billionaire, including jabs towards his lacking social life, failed marriages, Twitter's value decline, and even the current dispute between himself and Ashley St Clair - who gave birth to one of his 14 children earlier this year.

"Elon. It's Me. Ashley St Clair. I have no other means of contacting you so I bought PoE2 early access just for this," the spammed message reads, referencing St Clair's claims that, similar to Grimes' situation, Musk has become unresponsive to her requests. "Please pay your child support. Thank you Elon."

There were also references to Tesla's tumbling stock market value, alongside comments reminding Musk of the appearance of his ex-partner Grimes and estranged daughter Vivian on popular streamer Hasan Piker's Twitch channel.

Strangely, Musk refused to disable the chat for the duration of the stream - even with the instructions of another player showing him how to do so - instead only occasionally 'ignoring' certain players.

"Elon immediately blocking the guy who said he ruined the country like how he ruined his marriage is so funny," wrote one comment in reaction to Musk's silent temper tantrum, and the absurdity of the stream makes it impossible not to laugh at.

It also likely didn't help that Musk was struggling from a skill level too, as he was repeatedly dying to the game's first boss - The Bloated Miller - on hardcore accounts, meaning that every time he died he had to start from the beginning again.

This, combined with the brutal message spam, led him to rage quit the stream after an hour and a half, achieving little outside of giving his detractors more ammunition to throw back at him.

"He looked like he was going to cry after reading some of the messages," one user illustrated, whereas another explained: "I still can't imagine how insecure and desperate for attention you have to be to build this facade of him being some omnipotent gamer and buy your way into being at the top of the leaderboards only to watch him play like a complete noob and expose himself. Clown, absolute clown."

It certainly wasn't the finest moment for the richest man in the world, and it would be a surprise to see him return to streaming any time soon.
