We don't need Rockstar Games to tell us about patience being a virtue, and some 12 years after the last Grand Theft Auto released (sorry, we're not counting that remake trilogy), GTA 6 is finally racing into our lives.
There's plenty of buzz surrounding the next chapter in the automotive adventure, and as well as the franchise's first main leading lady, there's a much-hyped return to the fan-favorite Vice City and high hopes that this will be one of the biggest games of all time.
We're not just talking about in terms of scope, and while GTA V went on to become the most profitable entertainment product of all time, the fact GTA 6 is tipped to make $1 billion in pre-order sales alone suggests it could top that.

Despite all the fanfare, Rockstar has only given us a single trailer to go off in December 2023. Even though there have been repeated promises that GTA 6 will be in our hands, that's not helping our anxiety as the days turn into weeks and then turn into months. There are still some pretty major gaps in the story, including all-important details of a GTA 6 release date and how much it'll cost.
The latest rumors claim GTA 6 will cost up to $100, but before you go throwing your controllers in rage, we should wait for actual confirmation. That's just the problem, though, Rockstar is far from as speedy as the supercars within GTA.
We have just had something of an announcement, but as is typical with GTA fandom, gamers are less than impressed. Instead of giving us a release date or price tag, Rockstar took to social media to announce the launch of its GTA 6 Discord server.

The announcement was quickly torn apart by others, with many mocking the video game developer on Reddit.
One disgruntled person laughed at the announcement of a Discord server instead of any real news as they added: "Gotta give it to Rockstar... Develop and hype up a game that we'll never play... Brilliant strategy."

Another grumbled: "If it's coming out this year the marketing has to kick off before July. If we don't see anything by May then I'd bet it's not coming this year.”
A third concluded: "Can’t lie, if their goal is to save millions in marketing; discord is free and will probably have one of the biggest servers on the site.. smart."
Others were more optimistic, as one hopeful player wrote: "I genuinely hope the silence ends in April I was betting on a late May-July trailer 2 release but it might come sooner than I thought."
Sadly, we've been burned too many times before to expect much from GTA 6. It's been years since the first details about Vice City and Lucia leaked, and while that wasn't through official channels, it feels like the marketing team could've done a lot more by now. As with any recent Rockstar announcement, the replies show fans are getting more than a little impatient.

Then again, with the first trailer breaking records and the pre-order predictions speaking for themselves, Rockstar could do zero marketing, and GTA 6 would probably outsell every game on the planet. Maybe this is all part of the developer's plan. You know, treat 'em mean, keep 'em keen?
