2025 is set to be a bank-busting one for gaming fans, with the release of the Nintendo Switch 2, games like Doom: The Dark Ages and Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, and (obviously) the juggernaut that is Grand Theft Auto 6.
Although it's been 12 years since the last Grand Theft Auto game was released, the automotive adventure has never been far from our minds.
The record-breaking success of GTA V has seen it become the most profitable entertainment product of all time, but as we look ahead to GTA 6, it's tipped to blow its predecessor out of the water.

With the next outing poised to make $1 billion in pre-orders alone, the already high bar set by GTA V could be nothing.

Then again, with rumors of a $100 price tag, we're not surprised it could be making that much money.
That was only hammered home by the recent reveal that Mario Kart World will cost $80 on Switch 2, meaning a supposedly AAAA release like GTA 6 will surely go for a lot more.

As reported by xHARDHeMPuS, Swiss retailer Brack posted a listing for GTA 6 and then quickly removed it, stating that the game will retail for 99 Swiss Francs, which comes to around $112 USD. The site apparently has a strong track record of accurately predicting prices.
Considering you were less than impressed by the idea of paying $100 for GTA 6, sticking even more on top of that isn't going down well.
On the hopeful side, many retailers are simply using placeholder release dates and price tags until we get an official announcement.
As we saw with the Switch 2, many of these pre-release prices were way off the mark.

Still, the fact that Brack removed the listing has raised a few eyebrows.
Speaking in a recent earnings call (via GameSpot), Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick discussed the idea of pricing and seemingly hinted that an inevitable pricehike was on the way when he said: "Look, there’s more content constantly being made available, and we really aim to deliver great value at any given time.
"We're so focused on delivering more value than what we charge. And that’s sort of the rubric."

Over on Reddit, gamers responded to the potential $112 price tag and made their feelings clear. One angry fan wrote: "Nope. R* can f**k right off if that is the price."

Another fumed: "Meh, $100 is a tad bit too much. I can see $70-80 at the most. Good luck with your sales on this one Rockstar, lol."
Not everyone was against it, with someone else admitting: "GTA VI can charge whatever because I’m sure it’s gonna be worth the price. However, I hope other companies don’t even dare to try."
A fourth concluded: "A lot of people will say ‘no’ but others will buy. People are buying $500/seat for a concert, you don’t think they’ll drop $100 USD on a highly anticipated AAA game title?"
In all honesty, Rockstar could probably charge a lot more and still get away with it. There's an obvious concern that the price of video games are going to go through the roof, but as rightly pointed out, rivals pricing themselves the same as GTA 6 will only leave them open to the inevitable critiques that they aren't GTA 6. For those who think GTA 6 will flop with a $100 price tag, we say, watch this space.
