A new leak has sent GTA fans into a frenzy as it appears to reveal the long-awaited release date of GTA 6.
It's set to be a huge year for video games, and if playing Monster Hunter Wilds, Doom: The Dark Ages, or Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater wasn't enough, let's not forget the Nintendo Switch 2 is also on the way.
Although Nintendo is set to make it big with the release of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Pokemon Legends: Z-A, and the Switch 2, it's all destined to be eclipsed by the release of GTA 6. 2025 marks 12 years since GTA V raced into our lives and became the most-profitable entertainment product of all time. GTA V reached this milestone thanks to GTA Online, and with the game's multiplayer component still boasting over 170,000 concurrent players at any given time, it's thought that its success has led to Rockstar Games milking the cash cow for a bit longer.

Still, GTA 6 is poised to not only clear the competition 2025, but potentially wipe GTA V's record off the board.
Even though we might be revving our engines in anticipation of GTA 6's release, there's the small problem that we don't have a release date yet. Publisher Take-Two Interactive has repeatedly reassured us it's coming in 2025, but so far, has only given a loose 'fall' release window.
Gaming site 80 Level claims it's got the inside track on the GTA 6 release date, pointing to a potential leak from a retailer in Uruguay. The site reports that XUruguay has seemingly revealed that GTA 6 is coming on September 17 thanks to a listing on the store catalog.

There are further claims that it will originally launch as a PS5-exclusive, which we're not sure about considering that would lock out Xbox owners. Unfortunately, we already know that those who don't have a next-gen console won't be able to play.
80 Level writes: "Presumably, some miscommunication between the store and the game's developers led to the unintended early reveal of a release date that was meant to remain secret - giving us a chance to clear our calendars well in advance."
Others have noted that September 17, 2025, would mark exactly 12 years since GTA V was released. Skeptics will point out that the September 17 release seems a little coincidental, suggesting it might be a placeholder.

Throwing fuel on the fire that this is the real deal and someone could be fired for this blunder, the XUruguay listing now says GTA 6 is simply coming 'soon' without a mention of September 17.
We're currently keeping our appetites fed with the odd leak here and there as we wait for official news for Rockstar. Still, it's reassuring that every day brings us one step closer to having the next chapter of the automobile adventure in our hands.
If you're questioning GTA 6's pulling power, market research firm DFC Intelligence told The Financial Times, that it predicts the game will make $1 billion just in pre-orders alone. Although GTA V made over $1 billion within its first three days, the idea that its successor will do that before it's even out is mind-boggling.
Beyond pre-orders, DFC predicts that GTA 6 will have netted a jaw-dropping $3.2 billion in revenue during its first year. To put that into context, it's over double what GTA V made in the same period. We don't see the game being anything other than a certified smash, but if anything, that only makes the wait for it even worse.
