When you're on a budget and looking for your next mobile phone, Apple might not be your first port of call. Still, new leaks for the iPhone SE 4 are showing off what's on the way for the next budget-conscious iPhone ready to join the family.
Hot off the heels of the iPhone 16 and 16 Pro as the young upstarts ready to disrupt things, the iPhone SE 4 is a distant cousin that offers comfort and practicality without all those fancy bells and whistles.
A fresh look at an iPhone SE 4 case is doing the rounds on X, showing off a flat back and cutout that hints at dual cameras. This would be a first for the SE line, as typically, they're limited to a single-camera setup

Before you get too excited about this 'upgrade,' sceptics think the cutout could be for a single camera and flash.
Others have noted the iPhone SE 4 case looks a lot like cases used for the iPhone 7 Plus, suggesting Apple's 2016 flagship phones could've been an inspiration here.

The placement of the volume and power, mute, and volume buttons also hint that the SE 4 won't be taking a leaf from the iPhone 16's book - providing a more familiar experience for current SE owners.
Under the hood, the iPhone SE 4 is tipped to cost $499. This might seem like a lot, but if the rumors are true and it's powered by the same Apple A18 chipset as the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, that'll give us plenty of bang for our buck.
The SE4 could also replace the home button with Face ID, sport at a 6.1-inch OLED screen, and add the Action Button that was first introduced with the iPhone 15 Pro.

Still, it's the comparisons to the iPhone 7 Plus that will likely hold the SE 4 back. With the iPhone 7 Plus being a pretty dated model, there are fears that the SE 4 won't be as modern as we were hoping. Responding to the case leaks, one unimpressed fan wrote: "For $499 you literally can buy 120hz 6.5” display phone that has 3 cameras.
"Sure it’ll support ai and all but this would sell like bread if it was $299." Like complaints about the price of the PlayStation 5 Pro, many think the iPhone SE 4 is simply priced too high.
Apple is yet to unveil the iPhone SE 4 to the world, but if it's going to hit that proposed spring 2025 release window, Tim Cook had better get a move on.
