Apple's new foldable iPhone could be out of a lot of fans' price range.
Recent leaks surrounding the iPhone Air 17 had fans slam it as 'the product no one asked for' and accusing Apple of 'copying' Google with the design.
At the same time, the rumoured iPhone 17 Pro design leaks dubbed the model as the 'ugliest iPhone in history' and divided fans over its potential camera changes.

Now, according to a new leak from Instant Digital on Chinese social media platform Weibo, Apple’s foldable phone could come with a jaw-dropping price tag between $2,100 and $2,300. Although, with the recent bout of US tariffs, it could turn out to be more expensive than this.
That would make it one of the most expensive foldables out there, topping even Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 6 which starts at $1,899.

If the tech giant plans to charge that much, they might need to roll out something special as the foldable market isn't performing as well as expected.

The post says the iPhone Fold is rumoured to have a 7.8-inch screen when open and a 5.5-inch display when folded.
Meanwhile, other rumours have suggested the book-style foldable screen could be as large as 12 inches when unfolded - which is not very pocket-friendly!
As for the camera, early info hints at a main lens, ultrawide lens, and possibly an under-display selfie camera.
Reputable Apple industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts the rear-facing camera on the foldable iPhone will use dual lenses and skip Face ID altogether.

Instead, Apple might implement a Touch ID side button as a means to save internal space.
Internally, the foldable iPhone could come with a 5,000mAh battery, and Apple is reportedly upgrading the screen's integrated driver circuit from a 28nm process to a smaller 16nm one, making it more efficient.

There’s also talk that Apple might introduce exclusive Apple Intelligence features just for the foldable.

But Apple’s AI rollout hasn’t really blown anyone away yet, and fans are still waiting for half of the features they have already promised.
If Apple does go ahead with this foldable, it's not expected to roll out until at least mid-2026.
And by then, the competition within the foldable market will be more intense.
By then, we're expecting to see newer versions of already polished devices like the OnePlus Open 2, Galaxy Z Fold 7, and possibly the Pixel 10 Pro Fold.

These companies have been refining foldables for years, while Apple will be stepping in as the latecomer.
