Users have taken to social media to seek advice on how to improve their phone’s battery life.
On Reddit, one user wrote: “Chrome is my preferred is my browser for pc but on iOS, it consumes a lot of battery. Is this the norm? I know it's a resource intensive browser but it's a bit much for 40% in 1hr 52 mins of use?”
Another user also had similar complaints, writing: “Off the charts battery consumption in the last days. Hello folks, chrome is my primary browser on iOS. I’ve got everything up to date. Reinstalled it. Rebooted. No tabs open.

“Still an insane amount of battery usage. Is anyone experiencing something similar? Any know workarounds?
“This started a few days ago. The one thing I did after reinstalling was enabling sync again. Will try stopping that now… it’s the only explanation I find.”
And a third user also added: “I’m a Chrome user, but I’ve seen some people complain that it’s a true battery drainer and it somehow doesn’t show in the battery analytics.
“Will the battery life improve if i use Safari? I assume yes, since Apple optimizes their software for the hardware, but will it make such a difference? I don’t have background refresh enabled btw.”

So, if you find that your phone battery is draining quickly, it might be worth checking which internet browser you’re using - and it could be time to switch it to Safari.
