iPhone users are no strangers to frequent Apple updates on their mobile devices, but the recent iOS 18 update has rubbed some people the wrong way.
Some of its features have proved so controversial, in fact, that some users are even calling for the software update's designer ‘to be fired.’
When it comes to technology, Apple has been at the forefront of leading this revolution, especially where smartphones are concerned.

From its very first iOS 1.1 featured on the original iPhone in 2007 to its release of the new iPhone 16, Apple have been leading the smartphone revolution for a long time now, creating many loyal customers and even prompting a classic iPhone vs Android battle.
On Monday, September 16, Apple released its latest and biggest iPhone update so far.
The update has seen drastic changes to features which has prompted many to head to social media to share their distaste of the design choices.

A main target for this backlash is the photos app.
One Twitter user said: “Whoever designed the new iOS 18 photos app needs to be fired”, while comments under the post also expressed their distaste for the new software update.
Another user labeled the update as ‘unorganized’, ‘slow’ and said they prefer the old design, writing: "Old design was fine and more practical."
iPhone users were anticipating this update to also included Apple Intelligence AI features, but they didn’t materialize this edition. However, other updates are included in iOS 18.

A big update included in this update is the new options to customize the home screen and control center.
This new addition allows iPhone users to place apps around their wallpaper as well as select the option to have ‘dark mode’ and even switch up the way an app icon looks through adding tints, giving users more flexibility to make their phone more uniquely personalized.
Though there has been some backlash since Apple rolled out the update earlier this week, there have also been some positive comments on the new update. One user typed: “downloaded iOS18 just for the one feature i have wanted since i bought an iphone - the ability to arrange my home icons like this’’.

A second wrote: “Wait you can remove the text labels in iOS18 this is kind of sick”, while a third added: “I really like the new #iOS18 look”.
UNILAD Tech has reached out to Apple for comment on iPhone users’ response to the iOS18 update but is yet to receive a response.
