iPhone users are all saying the same thing after being some of the first to install iOS 18 on their smartphones.
After months of anticipation, Apple’s latest operating system is finally available to download ahead of the iPhone 16 launch later this week.
On Monday (September 16) all those who own Apple smartphones from the iPhone SE and newer have been granted access to iOS 18 and it’s plethora of ingenious features.
Already, users have been embarking on distraction-free browsing, utilising the brand-new Passwords App and getting to grips with the redesigned Photos feature.

Meanwhile, those who possess the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro will have to wait until next month to start using Apple Intelligence - the company’s answer to Google Gemini and Samsung’s Bixby.
But it appears the new system update isn’t to everyone’s liking with some disgruntled users complaining iOS 18 is damaging their mobile’s battery health.
“God iOS 18 is absolutely killing my battery,” commented one user of X, formerly known as Twitter.
A second echoed: “DO NOT update ur phone to iOS 18 my f****ng battery is draining so fast bro.”

Another typed: “Bruh, my iPhone 15 Pro Max’s battery health stayed at 100% for 7.5 months. I just installed iOS 18 and I have been using it for around 2 days. The battery health suddenly dropped to 99%.”
“Battery life on iOS 18 is the absolute worst,” someone else replied.
If you’re someone who has experienced a poor battery life since downloading iOS 18 then you’ve been advised not to panic.

According to Apple, if you notice your battery life has decreased after updating your iPhone to the latest software then you should wait a few days for things to recalibrate.
“Even though you can use your iPhone immediately after an update, certain tasks related to the update continue in the background and might affect battery life and thermal performance,” writes the US company.
Moreover, David Snelling, Technology Editor of Express.co.uk has claimed background app updates may be to blame.
He writes that dozens of app developers will already be rolling out crucial upgrades to take advantage of new features in iOS 18.

So if you have your automatic updates switched on these will be operating in the background and thus reducing your battery life exponentially.
Snelling also says your iPhone will be ‘re-indexing data’ so it can be re-categorised and sorted by the new operating system.
This includes everything from contacts to apps but your phone is expected to be back to full power once the update is complete.

“Just carry a charger for the next few days if you're worried about things running flat,” he added.
