An unsung feature of Tesla's Cybertruck is getting rave reviews from prospective buyers, who think it could be the perfect way to power a Super Bowl tailgate.
A short video shared on X (formerly known as Twitter) demonstrates the Cybertruck's Powershare feature, which basically lets the truck become a backup battery for another electric vehicle (EV) to charge from.
It's a really smart idea since one of the main concerns people have around electric cars is the risk of getting stuck far from a charger on dwindling amounts of battery. That's called 'range anxiety' and is a common barrier for people buying an EV.

The system is also another step toward a future where different brands of EVs aren't locked off from each other, since the video in question shows the Cybertruck charging a Ford F150 Lightning (the newer electric version of Ford's ubiquitous truck).
As pointed out by one user, though, this isn't just a feature that could be amazing for rescue and last-resort situations, but also just as a way of sharing power to ensure no single vehicle gets completely drained.

Take a good old-fashioned tailgate, for example, where truck beds become the host to parties and food prep, and even outdoor viewing setups for the likes of the Super Bowl - fast approaching on February 11 - or any other major sporting event.
These might historically have needed loud portable generators, expensive backup batteries or daisy-chained power cables, but with Powershare you could use the built-in power outlets that most EVs now come with, and not worry about whose battery is being emptied.
After all, you could always just hook up your Cybertruck to another car to recharge it and make sure that everyone has contributed, if that's what you fancied. It seems like all you need is a proper charging cable to make the exchange of power.

Beyond that, the number of power outlets in a Cybertruck makes it pretty perfect for a tailgate regardless - it has six in total, including multiple in the truck bed, ideal for plugging in a TV, grill, lights or more. You could become a genuine pitmaster in your driveway, or at the stadium parking lot.
Plus, as recently demonstrated by another user's video, the truck bed can be almost watertight when covered by the Cybertruck's tonneau cover, so you really don't have to worry if the elements conspire against you and rain rolls in.
