Ford makes shock announcement that could save drivers $10,000 in response to Trump tariffs

The American motor giant has taken a contrasting stance

US President Donald Trump's near-worldwide tariffs have caused significant turbulence in the market, but Ford have offered a lifeline for consumers in response, saving them upwards of $10,000 on certain new cars.

It's safe to say that President Trump's new tariffs - named 'Liberation Day' - haven't exactly gone down well, to the point where even close ally Elon Musk has hit back against the plan and called for an end to the trade punishments.

While it has devastating effects on the US economy, it had been felt on a greater scale by the individual American consumer, who is now going to have to spend far more to get almost everything that they buy.

You'll end up forking out more cash for Amazon products and iPhones, and the otherwise incredibly hyped reveal of the new Nintendo Switch 2 has been 'ruined' by a delay and likely price hike following the tariffs reveal.

One of the biggest industry casualties from the tariffs though is cars, as experts estimate that the new economic regulation will affect upwards of 50% of the market, as there's a huge reliance on imported parts, especially in electric vehicles.

However, Ford might be the manufacturer of choice for many US car owners going forward, as the almost exclusively American vehicle company has revealed shocking price cuts in response to the tariffs.

As reported by the Daily Mail, Ford have made their employee discount available to all customers until June 2 this year, which could save you up to $10,000 on any purchase.

It's not available for every car in their lineup, as speciality versions of the Bronco and Mustang alongside Super Duty versions of the F-Series pick ups haven't been included, but almost every other 2024 or 2025 car has some saving attached to it.

For example, anonymous sources revealed to the Detroit Free Press that the F-150 XLT hybrid would drop down to $55,000 from it's original $65,000 price tag, and the Escape ST SUV would have $3,600 slashed from its price, making it just $33,000.

While they do still import some parts from other countries, the reason that Ford are able to do this is because almost all of their parts and labor are made and performed within the United States, so they're exempt from tariffs.

Not only will Ford vehicles not receive a price hike due to tariffs, but the company is doubling down on this by giving American customers an even better deal than before.

It has also outlined this push in a new advert titled 'Committed to America', in which a narrator states:

"That's not a coincidence, it's a commitment. And now, at this unprecedented moment in automotive history, who benefits from Ford's commitment to America for over 120 years? You."

YouTube videos prior to the announcement of the tariffs have pointed out that its sometimes cheaper to opt for an electric pickup truck over a Ford alternative, but you now might be able to swing that in the American company's favor with this new consumer-friendly pricing shift.
