Streamer who stayed awake on stream for 250 hours straight is banned following concerning behaviour

Viewers are concerned for his health

If there's one thing that the internet has taught us, it's that many people will do crazy things for a piece of fame.

A YouTube streamer has had his channel banned from the platform after trying to break the world record for consecutive days without sleeping.

YouTuber Norme has spent the last 11 days livestreaming his attempt to stay awake.

However, after 250 hours, he was clearly struggling with extreme tiredness and disorientation.

As viewers became increasingly worried about his health, YouTube stepped in at the 250-hour mark to take down the stream.

He was aiming to surpass Randy Gardner's 1964 record of 264 hours.

Even though this record was actually already beaten by Robert McDonald in 1986 (who stayed up for 19 days straight) and isn't recognised by Guinness World Records anymore because of how dangerous it is.

And, just 12 hours before his goal, YouTube shut him down for 'violating community guidelines.'

It wasn’t just his livestream, either.

The video platform also erased all recorded videos of the attempt, leaving Norme's channel existent but his no-sleep record attempt vanished.

Norme posted his frustration on X with a disorientated-looking selfie next to a screen showing the ban, captioned: 'I GOT BANNED FROM YOUTUBE.'

Some viewers were relieved that the stream was taken down, worried about the potential harm to Norme's health, and urged him not to try again.

'this means that you can sleep now Please do not even try this again,' one wrote on X.

Sadly, the removal has not stopped his efforts as he recently moved his stream to Kick - where he also faced a ban.

He has since shifted to X for his latest attempts.

This was Norme's third try at staying awake for 12 days within a month and a half. While YouTube removed this recent attempt, the earlier ones are still available on his channel at this current time of writing.

During his stream, viewers spammed the chat writing things like: 'Let him sleep' and 'This is so wrong'.

Other clips from the stream show Norme being hit with a broom and splashed with water to keep him awake.

Although people were mostly entertained at the start of the attempt, once he hit the 200-hour mark, viewers became more concerned when Norme started passing out, hallucinating and making less and less sense when he spoke.

Moreover, a number of viewers donated to the stream with messages begging him to go to sleep.

The stream has peaked with 40,000 viewers, which means the high profile likely contributed to YouTube’s decision to shut it down.
