YouTuber spends 100 hours in the ‘City of the Future’ and the technology is absolutely mind-blowing

A YouTuber who spent 100 hours in the ‘City of the Future’ has revealed some of the wild ways technology is utilised.

The country of Singapore goes by many monikers; the Garden City, the World’s Smartest City and also the City of the Future.

To see whether it lived up to its hype, popular YouTuber DrewDoes traveled to the country and filmed some of Singapore’s high-tech innovations.

In an eight-minute clip, titled ‘I Spent 100 Hours in the City of the Future’, the traveller began by capturing a myriad of robotic workers on camera.

One of these automated bots was an angry-looking security guard who patrolled the airport entrance.

“The security robots can do a lot of things like go outside and enforce parking,” remarked the social media star.

An electronic janitor who sang children’s nursery rhymes and mopped up spillages was also filmed alongside a designated room service robot.

However, you may be interested to know it isn’t just the airport that has replaced its human workers.

Some Starbucks branches employ self-operating waiters which you can order iced coffees through.

They also work to clear trash from tables and deliver sweet treats to your seat.

Water-carrying robots were also seen roaming the streets while DrewDoes videoed electronic lawnmowers patrolling hotel grounds.

Elsewhere, one of the hotels that the YouTuber was staying in had installed a robotic omelette chef.

DrewDoes tried out the contraption for himself and even though the animatronic device made a mess, it succeeded in cooking up the perfect omelette.

Meanwhile, the star also filmed himself visiting a space-themed sushi restaurant where there were no visible employees.

Instead, all food was delivered directly to your table using a system of trains adorned with various facial expressions.

DrewDoes also remarked on the sublime architecture in ‘The City of the Future’.

His highlights included floating Louis Vuitton and Apple stores, high-tech malls and the breathtaking Gardens by the Bay tourist attraction.

The latter is one of Asia’s premier horticultural destinations and has welcomed more than 50 million visitors since it opened in 2013.

Elsewhere in the video, DrewDoes captured vending machines packed full of Prime energy drinks and MrBeast Feastables as well as retired busses that had been transformed into hotels.


The video has racked up more than 380,000 views since it was posted on July 21 and has seen hundreds of fans flocking to the comments section.

“Honestly, I’m really proud and honoured that Singapore is called the city of the future! No complains of the weather? Maybe it was because you were indoors most of the time? Hope you come again,” typed one user.

A second said: “Thank you for introducing Singapore to everyone. So glad you enjoyed your stay here.”

“Very underrated YouTuber,” remarked someone else. “Singapore is one of my 10 places to go to before I die.”
