Director Bong Joon-Ho has released the trailer for his first film since the smash-hit Parasite and fans are beyond excited as the trailer racks up 3m views in less than 12 hours.
Joon-Ho released the cultural phenomenon Parasite back in 2019 to huge acclaim, garnering an almost perfect score of 99% on Rotten Tomatoes. Now, he's back with a new sci-fi dark comedy staring Robert Pattinson called Mickey 17.
Described as a 'groundbreaking cinematic experience', Mickey 17 follows protagonist Mickey Barnes who is employed in an unusual job that requires him to die over and over again so that scientists can learn about death.
Releasing on January 31st 2025, the film has a star-studded cast including Toni Collette, Mark Ruffalo and Steven Yeun.

The utterly bizarre trailer has got fans excited about the upcoming film, with many praising Pattinson for his acting range and vocal versatility. One person took to the YouTube comments to say: "God damn, Robert's vocal range is *insane*. He sounds like a completely different person in just about every single film he's been in."
Others are just excited for another film from academy-award-winning Joon-Ho, one user wrote: "This is so much Bong Joon Ho signature in the way its shot, written, framed! I love it already!"
There's no doubt Mickey 17 is a different vibe to Parasite, particularly in genre. However that dark comedy that so many fans know and love from Parasite is certainly present in his latest project.
Mickey 17 is Joon-Ho's biggest budget film today, reportedly $150m — starkly different to Parasite which was made for a measly $11.4m, grossing an estimated $262m worldwide. So there's no doubt that this latest project has some way to go to beat that.

The trailer which dropped September 17 2024 has racked up 3.8m views at the time of writing just 15 hours after it was posted — completely mind-blowing.
Fans of the book that inspired the movie took to Reddit to give their thoughts on the trailer, with one writing: "The book is awesome. Looking forward to seeing a crazier version. The book is titled Mickey 7, and Bong changed the title because he said he wanted to kill him 10 more times"
One thing everyone seems to be noticing is the strange sexual positions Pattinson seems to get himself into in the trailer. One user joked on X: "Robert Pattinson’s commitment to putting himself in the most absurd s*xual situations is to be commended."
