The final season of a popular show has landed a rare 100% Rotten Tomatoes score.
The first few episodes of The Handmaid’s Tale final season have officially dropped and it's off to a surprisingly perfect start. While the show has picked up plenty of awards over the years, it hasn’t always been consistent in quality across its five previous seasons.
Based on Margaret Atwood’s classic novel, this sixth and final season of the Hulu original promises a powerful send-off. Already, it's earned a flawless 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes based on the first 16 critic reviews. In the final season, Elisabeth Moss (known for Mad Men and The Invisible Man) returns as June Osborne, fighting against Gilead’s oppressive regime.

The logline for Season 6 reads: "This final chapter of June’s journey highlights the importance of hope, courage, solidarity, and resilience in the pursuit of justice and freedom."
Familiar faces also return for the last round, including Yvonne Strahovski, Madeline Brewer, Ann Dowd, O-T Fagbenle, Max Minghella, Samira Wiley, Bradley Whitford and Amanda Brugel.
Although there are fewer than 50 audience ratings to go off, early critic reviews have been more than reassuring.

"With Season 6, The Handmaid's Tale is a masterclass in how to end a sharp, politically imperative show in times of moral crisis," one critic said.
"The Handmaid’s Tale’s last act may be more of a cliffhanger than a conclusion. But it can still give us hope and recognition, an artistic mirror of our own modern history that has only become more prescient since Atwood conceptualized it," added another.
"This final season is eminently bingeable, and each episode is tightly paced, with at least a few standout dramatic moments in each," someone else noted.
"Now, with its final season, the creators of "The Handmaid’s Tale" deliver a cohesive, engaging, and gratifying experience," another critic reviewed.

Commenting on Moss' director role, The Post NZ's James Croot said the show is off to a 'promising start.'
Season 6 of the dystopian drama comes after the longest break in the show's history. Season 5 aired more than two years ago, with the prolonged gap partly due to the SAG-AFTRA strikes in 2023.
While the final season will wrap up the show, fans might be pleased to know the universe will live on. In 2019, Hulu and MGM revealed they were working on an adaptation of The Testaments - a follow-up to Margaret Atwood’s original 1985 novel.
