There is a reason behind Elon Musk’s bizarre name change to ‘Kekius Maximus’.
Eagled-eyed users on X, formerly Twitter, may have already noticed that the billionaire has changed his name on the platform.
Bizarrely, Musk has also changed his profile picture on the social media app to an image of internet frog meme Pepe wearing gold armor and holding a video game controller. But why?

The tech mogul’s choice of a new name, which he’s gone for Kekius Maximus, might not be so random.
In fact, it has the same name as a meme cryptocurrency token and Musk’s decision to add it to his X profile has had a serious effect on the coin.
It has surged in value in the last 24 hours, with some reports suggesting that it has gone up by as much as 500% to 800%.

Taking to X himself, Musk wrote: “Kekius Maximus will soon reach level 80 in hardcore PoE.”
The Tesla boss also shared a post from another user which read: “I am Kekius Maximus, CEO of Tesla, SpaceX, and X, servant to the vision of human progress. Father of many innovations, husband to the idea of interplanetary life. And I will achieve my goals, in this era or the next.”
This isn’t the first time Musk has changed his name on the platform.
Back in January 2023, he changed it to ‘Mr Tweet’ and hilariously was unable to change it back initially.

His new name seems to indicate his engagement with meme culture and cryptocurrency.
After being named the head of the new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Musk shared memes associated with Dogecoin.

The meme coin saw a huge surge after Donald Trump’s presidential election win.
The crypto initially went viral in 2010 and features a design of a famous Shiba Inu dog.
It’s since been considered as the first meme coin but despite its satirical origins, it now apparently has legitimate investment prospects.
But due to DOGE’s connotations with Dogecoin, the cryptocurrency surged in value beyond 106%.

A new account for DOGE took to X to write: “We are very grateful to the thousands of Americans who have expressed interest in helping us at DOGE.
“We don’t need more part-time idea generators. We need super high-IQ small-government revolutionaries willing to work 80+ hours per week on unglamorous cost-cutting. If that’s you, DM this account with your CV. Elon & Vivek will review the top 1% of applicants.”
