Over a year after Elon Musk shared his frustration over a fake Pirates of the Caribbean reboot, the actress rumored to 'replace' Depp has revealed that she received 'insane death threats' and racial abuse following his social media post.
Elon Musk certainly isn't shy about sharing what he thinks, and while most of his quoted posts and replies leave him simply remarking 'wow' or 'interesting', his 220,000,000 follower base and incredible influence can have major ramifications.
This was seen in late 2024 after the richest man in the world engaged in a targeted social media campaign against the UK government, focusing particularly on safeguarding minister Jess Phillips.

After he labeled her a 'rape genocide apologist' and a 'witch', Philips declared that she feared for her life due to the abuse that Musk's actions sent her way.

Now one of Hollywood's biggest new names has revealed how rumors surrounding a fake Pirates of the Caribbean remake shared by Musk landed her with a torrent of abuse, including death threats and racial slurs, as reported by The Guardian.
In a now-deleted post, X account 'Unlimited L's' shared that "Disney considers Ayo Edebiri as replacement for Johnny Depp in 'Pirates 6'", to which Musk quoted the post with the caption: "Disney sucks."
Edebiri made no comment regarding the false rumor at the time, but over a year later she revealed on her Instagram story the abuse that she suffered due to Musk sharing the post:
"Just remembering when I got some of the most insane death threats and racial slurs of my life (idk if it's the #1 moment, but for sure top 3) for a fake reboot of a movie I had never even heard of because of tis man LMAO," remarked Edebiri, alongside a screenshot of Musk's post.

"So not only is he a double s**g h**l-ing [sieg heiling] fascist, he's an idiot, but anyway."
This is far from the first time that Musk has used his significant following on X to spread misinformation, as he recently claimed that the Biden administration ordered the 'insane slaughter of 150 million egg-laying chickens', and xAI's own chatbot Grok has labeled him a significant spreader of misinformation on the platform.
Unlimited L's came to Musk's defense following Edebiri's story, calling her "completely unhinged" and that the original post was "deleted by mistake" after opting for a more professional image, and not because it was false.

They also added that they "never made any claims" regarding Edebiri's hiring, instead sourcing the "latest information coming from credible Hollywood sources."
However, there have since been no further official sources confirming what Unlimited L's originally posted, including obviously Edebiri herself.
The account has reaffirmed their support for the richest man in the world too, adding: "I am a HUGE fan and supporter of Mr. Musk. He has my loyalty for LIFE, and I don't say that lightly."

Replies to their 'explanation' have torn his claims apart, with one user remarking: "I'd stay away from your 'credible sources' if I were you buddy."
"If it's a credible Hollywood source then say that," added another. "'Reportedly' is specifically applied to unverified gossip. It doesn't sound like you have any clue what you're doing."
