Bizzare three-fingered “alien mummies” have been discovered in Peru and they’ve been found to have “non-human fingerprints” according to a US attorney.
The mysterious discoveries were found last year and made headlines for their strange, elongated heads and three fingers on each hand.
The 4 ft mummies stumped researchers and analysis of their fingerprints has revealed that they don’t appear to be human.

This is according to an attorney who examined one of them.
A former Colorado prosecutor and current defense attorney, Joshua McDowell, reviewed one of the beings, which has been nicknamed “Maria”, along with three independent forensic medical examiners.
But McDowell’s investigation only gave us more questions after it was unveiled that the mummies fingerprints are in perfect straight lines.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, McDowell said: “These were not traditional human fingerprint patterns. We did not see any loops or whorls on the prints of the fingers or on the toes.
“I’m a former prosecutor. I’m a criminal defense attorney. I’ve seen lots of fingerprints. And these were not classic fingerprints.”
However, while this is certainly bizarre, McDowell admitted is “very odd”, he’s also said that it would be “extremely premature” to make any guesses about where the mummies could have originated from.

He went on to say that the fingerprints “could possibly have something to do with the way her skin was preserved.”
Maria is covered in diatomaceous earth which is a naturally occurring, soft, siliceous sedimentary rock that is easily crumbled into a fine white to off-white powder.
It’s made from the sediment of fossilized algae and is often found in bodies of water.
The attorney has said that he wants “actual, very definitive DNA studies done at high complexity laboratories” before any estimates are made.

In a statement, his team said: “The carbon dating needs to be repeated with more sophisticated methods. Those are things that we’re looking for. Our preliminary investigation really just led to the fact that more investigation is needed.”
However, there others who are adamant that Maria is an alien from outer space.
Jaime Maussan is a Mexican journalist and UFO enthusiast who is convinced that the mummies are from another planet.

Despite his claims, Peruvian authorities have said the mummies are in fact a hoax - stating that they are “dolls” made of paper, glue, metal, and human and animal bones.
It’s still not clear where exactly the truth lies but the caves where the mummies were originally found - filled with mysterious artifacts - has now become the target of grave robbers looking to swipe items to sell on the black market.
