One video shows the devastating power of explosive weapons - and just how badly things can go during demonstrations.
On behalf of the YouTube channel called Ballistic High-Speed, US Army veteran Adam Knowles showcased the dangers of rocket launcher backblast.
What was supposed to be the 'final shot of the day' ended in disaster when the weapon unexpectedly exploded as Knowles was firing it.

The viral video shows the whole event in slow motion, Knowles is forcibly known backwards after the shot is fired, blasting his helmet clean off and rendering him unconscious.
The military soldier's friends ran to his rescue where he was airlifted to hospital soon after.
Knowles suffered some serious injuries, including a broken jaw, a fractured skull, shrapnel wounds, long-term nerve damage to his face and third-degree burns on about 10% of his body.

He underwent a lot of treatment involving multiple skin grafts, stitches, and other surgeries', which totalled over $300,000 in medical expenses.
But at the end of it, it's amazing his face is very much still intact.
About a month later, Knowles appeared in another YouTube video where he analysed the footage of his incident with a colleague to find the point where it all went wrong.
Although Knowles was wearing arm casts as part of his recovery, he seemed to be in good spirits.

Pinpointing the part where the weapon exploded, Knowles said: "The rocket launcher basically exploded."
He explained how the booster in the RPG-7 failed, leading to a build-up of pressure in the firing chamber which ultimately caused a downward explosion. That’s reportedly why most of the damage was to his body rather than his head.
Fortunately, in his case, the weld gave away first, acting as a 'pressure release,' preventing a more devastating explosion that may not have left him so lucky.

His story has since reached Reddit forums such as r/OopsThatsDeadly and r/watchpeoplesurvive where viewers have Redditors expressed their disbelief: "That man is a lucky dude."
Another user exclaimed: "HOW DID HE SURVIVE?"
Many remarked on Knowles' incredible luck, writing: "That could have been drastically worse" and "He's so lucky he walked away from that".
In response to the YouTube video, one user pointed out: "That was unexpected on so many levels. I'm glad Adam is alive, in on piece, and is expecting full recovery. Get well Adam! Both phisicaly and mentaly."

Whilst Knowles reports that he feels 'a lot better', the YouTuber informed his audience he has a 'solid few months' of rehabilitation ahead but is determined to 'keep moving forward.'
