Finding out you’ve been cheated on is never a fun scenario.
But if we were to rank the worst ways to find out that your partner has been unfaithful, on your wedding day is up there as number one most dramatic.
Believe it or not, that’s exactly what happened to one anonymous contributor who wrote a viral essay published in Body + Soul a few years ago.

Using anonymous names, the piece tells the heartbreaking story of ‘Casey and Alex’, a couple who were getting ready for one of the biggest days of their lives when disaster struck.
Casey authors the essay, painting the picture of a peaceful and happy time in her hotel with her bridesmaids on the eve of her wedding, when her phone lit up with some unexpected messages.
They were from an anonymous sender who’s assumed to be ‘the other woman’.

Screenshots and photos sent to Casey showed months upon months of intimate, romantic messages and photos exchanged between Alex and this other woman.
Casey was certain that the messages were for real, and her world was turned upside down.
While some would immediately call off the wedding, after giving it some thought Casey decided she wanted to go ahead with the event but made a plan of her own.

Casey ensured all the guests were seated and attentive when she dropped her bouquet at the top of the aisle to reveal her phone.
She shocked everyone, most of all her ex-fiancé, when she began reading every single message she was sent by the other woman.
Alex was left completely speechless when it became clear Casey knew everything, making for the most dramatic wedding the guests had ever seen.
But perhaps most impressively, Casey didn’t let the devastating news rain on her parade. After the relationship was well and truly severed, Alex fled the event while Casey continued the party with a good portion of her guests.

They made use of the extravagant wedding party they’d booked and paid for, deciding to celebrate “honesty, finding true love and following your heart even when it hurts”.
No point letting all those wedding preparations go to waste. After all, it was unlikely Casey would get much of it refunded.
While this story is equal parts devastating and crazy, it does have a somewhat happy ending as Casey explained they ended up having “one hell of a party”.
