Simple PS5 hack which will slash your loading times

Simple PS5 hack which will slash your loading times

Your gaming experience will change for the better

Experts are recommending a simple PS5 hack which will slash your loading times in half.

Let's face it - this is 2024 and ain't nobody got time for slow internet speeds.

Especially when you're trying to play massive multiplayer games like Call of Duty and Rockstar's GTA Online.

Even outside of gaming, we can all agree that slow internet speeds can drive anyone crazy.

Thankfully, there are some simple tricks to improve your Sony PlayStation 5's network connection and put an end to the high ping.

PS5 expert GadgetControl shared a trick with your console settings.

The tech expert's TikTok is full of PS5 hacks for fellow gamers.

"This is how to increase Wi-Fi speed on your PS5 console," they explained.

One very effective method shown in the video is to change the Wi-Fi channel on your PS5.

This can be done by going to Settings, selecting Network, then choosing Set Up Internet Connection.

Next, players need to select the right frequency for their setup.

Your choice of settings will vary depending on how far away your router is.

"If your router is far away from your PS5 then select 2.4 GHz," GadgetControl said in the TikTok.

"If your router is in the same room as your PS5 then select 5.0 GHz for faster speed."

It goes in that 2.4 GHz allows for better range whereas 5 GHz enables higher performance or speed.

And make sure your internet router is capable of 5 GHz first - to avoid any disappointment!

Another way to boost your PS5’s performance is by clearing its cache.

Before you ask, no this won't remove any downloaded games, saved game data or media storage.

Doing so deletes temporary files which aren't being used and otherwise slow your console down.

Here's how to clear your cache:

  • Make sure your PS5 console is fully turned off and not in Rest Mode.
  • Hold down the power button until you hear a second beep (around 5 to 7 seconds). This method boots up the console's Safe Mode.
  • Then, connect your controller using the USB cable and press the PS button on the controller. You can use the D-pad to scroll down and click on "5. Clear Cache and Rebuild Database”.
  • Users should see an option that then says "1. Clear System Software Cache" - select this and tap “OK”.

And that’s basically it! You’ll notice smoother gameplay, less lag and faster download speeds and be much better prepared for the large file sizes of GTA VI and Death Stranding 2 when these potentially hit the shelves in late 2025.
