Grand Theft Auto 6 is undoubtedly the biggest game of the year, and perhaps even the last decade, so it's understandable that excitement is at an all-time high ahead of publisher Take-Two's next earnings call on May 15.
People have been waiting for GTA 6 for over a decade now, but hype has increased exponentially since the first (and only) trailer dropped over a year ago. It gave fans a glimpse of what's to come, yet the relative silence from Rockstar Games since then has led to fears of a delay for many.
Previous earnings calls for publisher Take-Two Interactive saw the game's release window narrowed from 2025 to Fall of this year, yet there's still no concrete date as we begin to approach the halfway point of the year.

Understandably, that's led many to worry that a delay could be on the way, and paired with concerns that the price could be higher than expected have dampened the otherwise exponential excitement for some.
However, Take-Two's upcoming earnings call on May 15 at 4:30pm ET has been confirmed to have an 'update' on GTA 6's release, as reported by Indy100, giving fans a glimmer of hope that a date could be set within the next couple of weeks.
There's a chance that Rockstar could announce the date, perhaps alongside a new trailer or screenshots, in the days leading up to the earnings call - especially as the gap between the first trailer and additional content for its previous games was significantly shorter compared to GTA 6.

Many fans are viewing the prospect of Take-Two reconfirming the Fall 2025 window as the best case scenario though, as despite it being a non-update of sorts, it keeps things on track when there's plenty of pessimism among the fan base.
"It'll be good news if they still iterate the Fall 2025 release," writes one user on a Reddit post speculating whether further information will be revealed. Another added that "they can edge us as long as they want. I just want confirmation of fall release. No need [for the] exact date. Just say... yes. It's coming this year."
There might be some fans out there who'd appreciate knowing the exact date even if it does come with a delay, although the majority are so desperate to play it that they couldn't possibly wait any longer.
Industry experts have previously pointed out that Rockstar's reluctance of officially set the day of release continues to harm the industry as a whole, as publishers aren't sure whether to push their games back or risk going up against the juggernaut.

Just this week PlayStation revealed that the highly-anticipated Ghost of Yōtei is set to come out on October 2, which isn't too far from the supposed Fall window for GTA 6, leading some fans to worry that Sony is aware of a delay.

"Sony ABSOLUTELY MUST know at least a rough date for GTA 6 release," writes one comment. "Sony will absolutely not let one of their biggest IPs clash with GTA 6."
While there's certainly a likelihood that PlayStation will be aware of Rockstar's current release plans as it'll be launching on PS5, this could perhaps indicate that GTA 6 is coming earlier than anticipated, although that becomes less probable the longer we go without an update.
With the release of Mafia: The Old Country in August and Borderlands 4 in September - both similarly Take-Two games - you can't help but understand the pessimism within the fanbase that the Fall 2025 target won't be met.
