People are abandoning their air fryers after discovering game-changing cheaper alternative

The kitchen gadget is being swapped for a new favorite

People are getting rid of their air fryers after discovering a cheaper alternative that’s claimed to be a game changer.

Not too long ago, it seemed like every owner of an air fryer needed to announce the fact in any given conversation.

People were running to the store to get their hands on one after it was touted as being able to cook things quicker than a normal oven and dubbed as being more healthy than deep fat frying them.

But some kitchen appliances are just a flash in the pan and it looks like the air fryer is no different.

People are abandoning their once beloved appliances for the latest trend - and it’s a cheaper alternative.

The new gadget is a halogen oven which uses a lightbulb to cook the food in a small glass bowl.

The bowl is encased with a basket so that you don’t burn yourself while cooking with the device.

The glass bowl is topped with the halogen bulb itself, which switches on to raise the temperature.

It might also flash on and off to keep the temperature maintained at the desired level.

Some models can range between 60C and around 240C, or 140F and 464F.

The devices have been suggested by many as a cheaper alternative to the air fryer.

While air fryers are popular, the most expensive models can start to get a little pricey, which could undermine their status as a budget item.

Taking to social media to share their opinions, many people have revealed that they reckon halogen ovens are the best option for frugal cooking.

One person said: “I treated myself to a halogen oven to help with Christmas; I only have one shelf in my oven.

“It is one million times better than the rubbish air fryer I got in the summer.”

Another advocated for the device as well, saying: “Halogen oven is better, healthier and cheaper than air fryer.”

Time will tell if the halogen oven proves to actually be the new best thing - or if it’ll just become yet another fleeting fad.

Although, over on X, formerly Twitter, one user referred to the halogen oven as the ‘original air fryer’, which might be an indication that it could stand the test of time.

Of course, there is another alternative, which is just to stop buying kitchen gadgets and use the oven which came pre-installed in your home.
