A tech expert is urging people to disable two specific settings immediately in order to get a longer battery life.
With each model of iPhone and latest iOS, the more advanced tech we have to play around with on our devices.
However, it tends to have an adverse effect on its battery life, causing the phone to get drained of power more quickly.

Luckily, there are some expert-approved ways of prolonging the battery life on your smartphone.
There are two settings that you should disable in your phone.
Background App Refresh
The Background App Refresh setting constantly updates the content on apps that you’re not actively using.

This means that when you click back onto it, it’ll give you the latest content, which is pretty handy but not great for battery life.
When apps are refreshing in the background they use up either mobile or WiFi data which is a huge consumer of battery power.
By disabling the function, you’ll be boosting the battery power in your phone, meaning it’ll last for longer between charging.

Here’s how to disable it: Go to 'settings', then 'general', followed by 'background app refresh'. You can then decide whether to turn it off completely or disable it for certain apps.
Push Mail
Push Mail is a feature which notifies you every time an email arrives to your inbox. It might seem handy but in reality, it’s usually a waste of time and a massive drain on your phone’s battery.
Your iPhone will constantly be checking for new mail, meaning that your data is continuously active.

So, unless you’re waiting on an important message to come through, it’s probably best to switch the function off.
There are different ways in which you can lower the impact that Push Mail has on battery life.
First of all, you could switch to Fetch or Manual Mail Retrieval.

To do this, simply go to 'settings', then 'mail', and then 'accounts'.
From there you’ll be able to view “fetch new data” and change the setting from Push to Fetch or to Manual, whichever you prefer.
There’s also a way for you to adjust how often your phone checks for new emails by selecting a longer interval between times it’ll fetch for mail.
This will let you have the best of both worlds because you’ll still enjoy the convenience of having Push Mail but with less impact on your battery life.
