iPhone users left amazed after discovering ‘genius’ trick that will change the way they use shortcuts

iPhone users left amazed after discovering ‘genius’ trick that will change the way they use shortcuts

It's a time-saver for contact information

A Reddit thread has let iPhone users discover cool, lesser-known shortcuts on their devices.

The almost-year-old post titled: 'Favorite "Hidden" iPhone feature?' invited the Apple community to share their iPhone tricks and learn something new about their phones.

'I feel like I'm not using mine to its full potential. I was wondering what are your favorite "hidden" or least known iPhone feature?' the post read.

One that surprised many was a text replacement feature.

User siddhant1999 shared: 'keyboard -> text replacement: @@ to my email address. Never need to type it all out again'

He added: '@a for my full address too'.

This is such a time-saving tip considering the amount of times we have to put in our email address for logging into accounts or online shopping.

The comment received almost 300 upvotes and was praised heavily for its usefulness.

'I like a lot of the other suggestions, but this one is so simple and useful that I feel kind of dumb for not thinking of it,' the first user replied.

'Thank you so much for this genius idea!' exclaimed another.

Others are wondering how they've never done this before: ' I am going set up my email now, not sure why I never did.'

Some people admitted to using other symbols for shortcut text replacement.

'I use several! Emails, addresses, phone and bank account numbers and symbols like arrows → ← ↑ ↓ ,' one Apple fan suggested.

Other tips on the thread included using the Guided Access feature, calling it the 'Best feature when you have small kids' or lending your phone to nosey friends.

Essentially, the Apple feature lets you lock your screen to a single app like YouTube or a game.

The person using the device won't be able to close it and snoop through your photos.

It involves the phone owner setting up a PIN and tapping the lock button three times to activate it.

Another user pointed out the quick way to exchange information in the discussion thread: 'My favorite thing in iOS 17 is being able to exchange contact information by touching the end of your iPhone to another iPhone.'

It's these little things that make doing tasks on your phone all the more faster.
