If you’re struggling to find a comfortable position to lie in bed while scrolling through your phone at night, you’re in luck.

One man has shared a “genius” iPhone trick that’ll completely change the way you use your device.

The video was originally posted to Instagram by user @bigduke1313, but was later shared on Reddit by another poster.

After watching, people are thrilled with the possibility of using their phone in bed without having to move to scroll or swipe.

The post earned the commenter over 6,000 upvotes in under 12 hours, shedding some light on a little-known iPhone settings that could change a lot for users.

The setting allows you to control your Apple device with your voice, meaning that you can just say things like “next” to your phone and it will swipe or take you to the next video.

In fact, the voice control settings allow you to set up a crazy huge range of different options for voice controls, all triggered by phrases that you set yourself - so this is in fact one of the simpler ways to use it.

How to set up voice control on your iPhone

It's really easy to set up - just follow these steps...

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Scroll down and tap on Accessibility.
  3. Tap on Voice Control and tap Set Up Voice Control (or toggle it on if you've already done this in the past).
  4. Tap on Commands, then Create New Command.
  5. Say 'Next' clearly.
  6. Tap on Action, then Run Custom Gesture.
  7. Record a swipe up from the bottom of the screen, then tap Save.
  8. Tap Back, then Save again to finalize the voice command.

This means you're able to say “next” to your phone and it will swipe up across any app - although you can also choose to restrict the command to certain apps when you set it up if you prefer.

This means the command would work on TikTok, for example, but not have any impact if you're in another app, potentially saving you strife if your phone hears you use the command inadvertently.

It's a pretty brilliant option - and once you start to think about it, you'll probably be able to come up with loads of other ideas for voice commands.

And people on Reddit are loving the hack - with one commenting: “The peak of laziness achieved, and I’m all for it,” while another joked: “I use my nose like god intended.”
