If you have been lucky enough to bag a new iPhone 15, you may still be getting to grips with the model’s flashy new features.
But did you realise that the latest version of Apple’s flagship product has a brand new button?
And it might just be the handiest thing on your next vacation.

On previous models of the iPhone, users will be familiar with two volume buttons on the left-hand side, as well as a switch which quickly turns your device into ring or silent mode.
But now, sitting in the place of the switch above the volume adjusters, is a small button that can do a host of useful things.
The new feature, named the Action Button, can be adjusted to the particular needs of the iPhone 15 or iPhone 15 pro user when they press and hold the button, thanks to the new iOS 17.2 update.

For example, you can customize the button to quickly launch the Translate app. This means with a touch of a button, your phone will start translating speech from one language to another - which could be a godsend when you're on holiday and a local waiter has started reeling off the specials to you at a million miles an hour.
And because it is customizable, you can set the Action Button to whatever you want it to be.
Want to open the Camera app quickly to snap a selfie or film a video?
Need to speedily turn your flashlight on while in a dark room?

Want to record a voice memo on your device without having the faff of unlocking your phone?
Those are all things you can program the button to do.
In order to set up the new feature, simply go to the Settings app and select the Action Button tab - there, you can tailor the button to your specific requirement.

An image of the side of the iPhone will then appear on screen with icons representing each of the actions you can apply to the Action Button.
To choose an action, all you have to do is swipe along the options until you’ve settled on the one you want.
And if none of the options take your fancy, you can still apply the same feature as the older iPhone models - with the button being used to switch your phone into ring or silent mode.
Or if you don’t want any of these features, you can simply turn the button off completely by selecting No Action.
