Apple fans shocked as three popular iPhones are discontinued less than three years after release

Apple also announced the launch of the new iPhone SE 4

Apple fans are in shock after the firm announced that three popular iPhones are being discontinued less than three years after its release.

Fans of the tech giant were treated to news today that the iPhone SE 4 is being introduced.

However, while Apple is welcoming a new phone model to its line, there are others that are being taken away.

That’s true for three devices that you will no longer be able to purchase at the Apple Store.

The phone models that are being discontinued are the iPhone SE 3, the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Plus.

Considering the fact that the iPhone 14 was released less than three years ago, in September 2022, fans were shocked to see that it’s getting the chop.

Many users took to social media to share their own reactions to the news.

On X, formerly Twitter, one surprised user wrote: “Wow the 14s already?!!?”

Another said: “SE was such a bad phone, I had to change it within a year.”

And a third person commented: “The 14s are a bit soon to discontinue.”

However, not everyone was so critical of the announcement.

In fact, some iPhone users welcomed the change, with one person writing: “About time it went away!”

And another made a good point, adding: “Makes sense. Apple Intelligence is the focus right now. 15 and 15 Plus will probably be dropped later this year.”

The introduction of Apple’s version of AI, Apple Intelligence, was brought in with the launch of the iPhone 16.

On the Apple website, it read: “Apple Intelligence is the personal intelligence system that helps you communicate, work and express yourself. It combines generative models with your personal context to deliver intelligence that's the most useful and relevant to you, while protecting your privacy.”

And it certainly seems like AI will be a big focus for a lot of major companies within the tech industry.

President Donald Trump recently announced the launch of his $500 billion Stargate project.

The aim for the project is to fund infrastructure for artificial intelligence in order to beat rival nations in the development of AI technology.

For the plan, Trump gathered the likes of Altman’s OpenAI, SoftBank and Oracle to launch his project.

The project, where the group intends to build data centers, is expected to ‘instantly’ create 100,000 American jobs and could even create personalized cancer vaccinations in the future.
