Elon Musk is set to unveil the ‘Cybercab’ complete with butterfly wings in a long-awaited event.
The Tesla boss is due to finally reveal a prototype of the firm’s robotaxi later today.
The ‘We, Robot’ event will take place at the Warner Bros Studios in Burbank, California, where the billionaire is expected to formally announce the self-driving cars.

Driverless vehicles have been a long-time fascination for Musk and he has made some bold claims about the potential of the Cybercab.
He has previously said that the cars will be able to make its owner money while they sleep by picking up passengers through an app during the night.
Earlier this year, Musk pitched the vision as a ‘combination of Airbnb and Uber’ as owners will be able to opt into the ride-hail service function of the car whenever they choose.

At Tesla’s annual shareholder meeting, the tech mogul said: “I’m highly confident that it will far exceed the value” when talking about the monthly payments customers may need to pay for their cars.
The event was originally due to happen in August but has been pushed back following delays in the production.
At the time, Musk took to X, formerly Twitter, to explain why, saying that he himself had ‘requested what I think is an important design change to the front, and extra time allows us to show off a few other things’.
So, what will the Cybercab look like?
Right now, not a lot is known about what the new vehicle will actually look like.

The Cybercab will reportedly have just two seats and the butterfly wing style doors that are a signature feature for Tesla.
It is thought that the car will use cameras and a computer system in order to navigate the streets without a driver.
Tesla isn't the first company to introduce driverless cars, with Waymo already having autonomous taxis on some roads in the US.
The industry continues to expand with Uber now looking at adding more driverless cars to its fleet.

However, it is not without its problems after the company Cruise was suspended from operation in San Francisco following an incident where a pedestrian was run over by a self-driving car and dragged under the vehicle for 20 ft, which resulted in serious injuries.
The Tesla ‘We, Robot’ will be live streamed on Musk’s social media platform X at 7pm Pacific Time on October 10.
