Incredible technology combining motion capture and cutting-edge CGI allows action movies to look more epic than ever.
But, everyone loves a bit of behind-the-scenes footage.
One Reddit video shows what Planet of the Apes looks like without CGI and movie fans are finding the clip hilarious.

The almost 30-second clip takes a scene from Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, starring Toby Kebbell who portrays rebellious bonobo Koba, one of the top villains in the franchise.
Two versions of the same scene are shown, one enriched with CGI and the other as behind-the-scenes footage.
In the upper clip, realistic-looking Koba engages in typical chimp behaviour with audible breaths and heavy grunts. The bottom clip shows Kebbell's amusing portrayal as he performs animalistic actions like grunts as well as spitting a drink at his on-screen colleague.

Although, if you've seen the movie before, you'll know that the scene takes a much darker turn.
Kebbell said: '[Playing an ape was] vastly harder than I’d imagined. I thought it would be a bit of ‘ooga booga’ and they’ll do all the digital work and animate it, but it’s not that.'
Amused fans have been commenting: 'How do you film this without bursting into laughter every take' and 'that must be so fun to act this.'
Some people have praised Kebbell in his efforts of 'realism' whilst others are convinced his acting looks very similar to that of comedian Jim Carrey.

Other movie buffs appreciated the realism, stating: 'I always said and always will say, this movie is one of the movies that show the CGI of Avatar is overrated.'
Another Redditor said: 'Some of the CG shots in this trilogy are so real looking that my brain still tries to convince me they brought in a real ape for some of the shots.'
While some questioned: 'How can I be a hollywood monkey man?' others wanted to 'watch the entire movie without CGI.'

Kebbell has previously commented on his approach to animal acting, describing that he and his fellow on-screen chimps would fully immerse themselves into the role whilst on set.
Kebbell explained: 'You become an ape [on set]. We’d all be sitting around looking at our phones like this [mimics an ape with a smartphone]. Then you start getting off chairs using your knuckles, it’s truly bizarre.
'It’s hard to leave [behind]."
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes will be the latest launch in the franchise, hitting cinemas in mid 2024.
