It's been over three years since Squid Game first took the world by storm, leaving fans at the edge of our seats for another season.
Some of us were left wondering whether it was just another one-season-er from Netflix.
Well, it's official. The Korean mega-hit is officially getting not just a second season but a third as well - and they're coming sooner than you might think.

If you haven't seen it yet, you should. The nine episodes follow 456 contestants taking part in a deadly series of playground games for the amusement of wealthy spectators.
Despite being subtitled and featuring a cast without internationally famous actors, the Korean show became Netflix’s most popular series ever.
It racked up over 1.65 billion viewing hours in its first 28 days and was watched by more than 100 million Netflix accounts in that time.

On the back of its huge success, Netflix even launched a real-life version of the game show, Squid Game: The Challenge. In keeping with the trend at the time, popular YouTuber MrBeast created his own unofficial version as part of his wacky challenges.
Netflix teased the upcoming seasons in a very brief Olympics-themed teaser.
It shows people running a track race as they slowly transform into the show's iconic turquoise tracksuits worn by the contestants. They start to fall to the ground and, let's face it, are probably dying.
While the competitors keep running chaotically, Front Man can be seen with his familiar pink-suited cronies on either side of him.

Front Man says in Korean: 'It's been three years. Do you want to play again?' with the trailer ending with the release date announcement. At least they're acknowledging the long wait.
It states the second season will be hitting our screens on 26 December 2024 and goes on to say the third (and final) season will be released in 2025.
The new seasons are expected to delve deeper into the mysterious Front Man and his relationship with his police officer brother, as well as explore the background of the so-called 'salesman character.'

Given the usual two-year gap between seasons for popular shows, the writers likely worked on both seasons together. It would also make sense from a production standpoint to keep the sets intact between filming sessions. And it means fewer uncertainties for another season for its millions of fans.
Mark your calendars for more gruesome challenges on Boxing Day 2024.
