Netflix users warned you need the right subscription to be able to watch historic Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson fight

Netflix users warned you need the right subscription to be able to watch historic Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson fight

Millions of you could be caught out by the rules

Ding, ding, it's seconds out and the popcorn is at the ready.

Jake Paul and Mike Tyson are set to duke it out in the ring, and with everything (supposedly) going down on November 15, the months of smack talk are finally over.

Although there's still a chance that the fight could be pulled hours before its 8 pm ET/5 pm PT start time, the 58-year-old "Iron Mike" and 27-year-old "The Problem Child" are finally due to settle their scores.

Tipped to be one of the sporting events of the year and the biggest boxing match in recent memory, many are tuning in just for the morbid curiosity to see if the former undisputed heavyweight champion of the world can silence the mouthy YouTuber, or whether Tyson's age will see him toppled by this young upstart.

For those who aren't willing to spend $2 million for a ticket to the show at Arlington's AT&T Stadium in Texas, the good news is that the fight will be streamed on Netflix.

Don't have Netflix? Don't panic: Verizon customers can get a free year of Netflix Premium when they bundle it with another subscription through Verizon's +play platform. Partnering services include Paramount+, NBA League Pass, and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

Unfortunately, it seems that many of us will be locked out of watching Paul vs Tyson because a specific Netflix subscription is required to watch. Despite the fight being 'free' to all tiers of Netflix, the fact that many people share their accounts (shush, don't tell Netflix) has created a problem.

For those piggybacking someone else's account, they'll need the pricier standard tier that currently comes in at $15.49 a month.

The ad-supported tier is the entry-level version of Netflix and is much more affordable at just $6.99 a month.

However, the ad-supported tier only allows you to watch on two supported devices within the same household.

While the price jump is pretty significant, the standard tier allows you to stream without all those annoying ads and lets someone in a different location watch at the same time.

Say you're away at college and your parents want to watch the fight (or vice versa), someone needs to be paying for the standard tier. While it's not a big deal just to split the difference for one month if you're that invested in watching the fight, it's a stipulation that's likely going to catch a lot of people out.

Thankfully, you've got plenty of time to prepare.

The main card is expected to start at 8 pm ET/5 pm PT (which is 1 am on November 16 for anyone in the UK), but ring walks for Paul and Tyson aren't expected until around 11 pm ET/8 pm PT.

Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson is expected to pull in a jaw-dropping viewership of 300 million people, and while Tyson has already said he's doing it for the glory instead of the money, he's still rumored to make in the region of $20 million for the fight. If you've got the right Netflix package, will you be tuning in?
