Walking that much across a week can have both positive and negative effects on the body

Walking 35,000 steps every single day is something that most people won't achieve even if they're going for it, but one YouTuber has shown what that can do to the human body if you do it across a whole week - and the results are shocking.

YouTube is the perfect place for challenges that you'd otherwise not undertake, and many creators have put their body through more than it can handle sometimes in order to see the effects over a short period of time.

From running 5k every day as a new beginner to doubling your water intake, these challenges are often unadvised but have positive effects on your health in the long term - but they typically come with side effects that aren't exactly pleasant to deal with.

That was very much the case with a challenge JackSucksAtLife set himself, as he wanted to hit 250,000 steps in just a week which would require an average of around 35,000 every single day.

Most walking challenges settle for the 10,000 to 20,000 mark, so this is certainly an intriguing proposition that might accelerate the effects it'd have on the body.

Perhaps the common theme across Jack's entire week however was pain, as he suffered the typical soreness you'd expect from lengthy exercise alongside countless blisters, sprains, and swelling.

It reached a point near the end of the week where he was forced to swap his waterproof walking boots for crocs as his ankles were so swollen walking in the former was near impossible, and days after the challenge was finished he was still waiting for the swelling to subside.

One thing that Jack did notice though was how enjoyable he found the process of walking otherwise - especially in the early morning.

He remarks that he'd typically wake up at around 8am every day and not really get going for another hour and a half, yet after just a few days of this challenge he was up and ready to go at 6am with no issues.

Walking also became a lot easier from a stamina perspective within a couple of days too, as he was able to extend two hour walks to five hours and beyond in just one session, which made completing the day's quota a lot easier.

It might not have been fully worth it though as despite small weight losses and some reductions in size across his body, there wasn't any magical transformation that would be worth going through the pain. Jack's ending testimonial is that he wouldn't recommend doing it.

What it has achieved though is encouraging many in the comments to up their own step game, with one user declaring: "I have been neglecting my health recently so these are inspiring me to get back on track."

Another humorously adds that "my man took more steps in one week than I probably have in the past year," alongside one comment remarking that "if my area looked that pretty I'd walk 250,000 steps too."

While this challenge might not have been an overwhelming success, it certainly goes to show how quickly we can change our habits when we put our minds to it
