Petition gains 3,600 signatures after top YouTuber says she's deleting her channel after 17 years

Petition gains 3,600 signatures after top YouTuber says she's deleting her channel after 17 years

Her fans say it's like burning a piece of history

A piece of the internet could be erased from existence altogether, as one of the world's most memorable YouTubers has threatened to flush her old content down the virtual toilet.

While Trisha Paytas is still a long way off from the 111 million PewDiePie subscribers or the 322 million who are subbed to MrBeast, she's made quite the name for herself online. We've come a long way from her early mukbang videos, and even though Paytas has been known to drum up some controversy in the past, she's also produced some iconic videos along the way.

Sadly, a new video on Paytas' Just Trish Podcast claims she could be about to scrub all of that classic content content from her channel and start again.

Paytas has become synonymous with her blndsundoll4mj channel, but promising a rebrand, she's threatening to axe golden oldies like trying to break the world record for being the world's fastest talker, her "Fat Chicks" music video, and the viral King Tut dance which sparked a whole TikTok trend.

Paytas says that she is getting ready to film two different shows that will be posted on blndsundoll4mj, but this has caused a problem: "Because it's such production quality, I kind of want to delete all my videos on that channel."

She reiterates that the production company didn't ask her to, but instead, she says: "I just feel like it doesn't represent me anymore."

Although Paytas says the old videos are 'cute', she admits some like her pretending to be transgender might've not aged particularly well. Saying that it's not her passion and doesn't drive her anymore, Paytas says she deletes things that don't 'drive' her anymore. When asked if she could archive these videos and where they should be stored, the YouTuber defiantly said: "Nowhere, it should be burned."

As you can imagine, the news has led to an outpouring online, with a Change.org petition begging for Paytas to leave blndsundoll4mj as an internet time capsule racking up over 3,600 signatures.

The petition explains that even if Trish deleted her videos, they would likely be reuploaded by her diehard fans elsewhere, meaning she would get none of the benefits. The OP writes: "If you're anything like me you'd know that many of these videos bring you happiness and a place to feel okay and comfortable in."

There's been an outpouring of support, with on fan cheering: "Deleting this channel would be the modern day burning of the Library of Alexandria. Don’t do it!"

Another added: "I'm signing because I GREW UP with these videos !! please Trish!!." A third simply said: "You are internet herstory Trish!! These are valuable timestamps in history."

Even though Paytas says she's already deleted a lot of videos from blndsundoll4mj because she doesn't 'like that person', there are still plenty of her classics still up there. Whether this is a stunt to boost views or Paytas is really getting ready to sunset the blndsundoll4mj of yesteryear remains to be seen, but either way, it's clear the Trishy Fishies aren't having it.
