Ethan Klein has responded to a resurfaced clip where he promised to cut his arm off if Trisha Paytas appeared on SNL.
The YouTube star made her Saturday Night Live debut at the weekend, appearing in a skit with cast member Bowen Yang and actor Paul Mescal.
In a podcast episode which aired back in 2021, Klein said that he would ‘cut my arm off’ if Paytas went on the show after she voiced ambitions of appearing.

The pair had the conversation on their former podcast Frenemies and the clip is now going viral.
The video was uploaded to social media by Pop Crave, who said: “Video from 2021 resurfaces of Trisha Paytas’ ‘Frenemies’ co-host Ethan Klein telling her he will cut his arm off if she’s ever on SNL.
“She made her debut last night.”

In the footage, Klein responded to Paytas saying ‘I’ll go on it’ by adding: “Yeah you’re not - if you go on Saturday Night Live I will… What’s something really valuable I could put on the line?”
Laughing, Paytas asked: “Like what?”
Klein replied: “I’ll cut my arm off, my whole arm. If you go on SNL, that’s a threat, if you go on SNL, I’ll cut my f***ing arm off.”
To which Paytas said: “Oh my god, Jesus, so dark. I’m doing SNL.”

The 36-year-old made her first appearance on the show on Saturday (December 7), which Klein has since addressed on his own podcast, H3.
Responding to the viral moment yesterday (December 9), Klein jokingly offered to send Paytas his arm.
Opening the show, he said: “Exciting show here, gonna be cutting off, dismembering myself.”

He went on to joke that he didn’t know which arm to cut off to ‘mail to her’ and showed his crew holding different knives and swords that they had brought to the set.
Performing his own skit, Klein jokingly had his crew member, AB Ayad, cut his arm off with a sword.
Fans had taken to social media to share their thoughts on whether Klein should keep his end of the bargain.
On X, formerly Twitter, one user wrote: “trisha paytas was on snl and all I can think about is when ethan klein said she wouldn’t be and if she was ever on snl he’d cut his arm off,,,, well he better get to cutting!”

Another said: “Ethan Klein where’s that arm? You owe her.”
A third person commented: “Ethan Klein public arm severance when.”
And a fourth added: “Has ethan klein cut his arm off yet.”
During yesterday's podcast, Klein also mentioned his hopes that his children will be able to have a playdate with Paytas’ kids as they are first cousins.
The pair have had a rift since their podcast ended in 2021.
