It seems that people will be triggered by the smallest things these days, and when it comes to YouTube, it feels like few communities are angrier.
With the video platform launching back in February 2005, you can imagine that there have been plenty of changes to its look over the years. YouTube critics seem to only be growing in number, with even the smallest tweak to its carefully crafted user interface being enough to have you up in arms.
Now, its latest minute change has been branded as everything from 'disgraceful' to the 'worst change ever'.

This retooled UI has been called out on Reddit, with new rounded edges on videos and the volume button apparently being moved.
Although you might not think this is enough to rattle the ever-online YouTube fandom, they're here to prove it was more than enough.

Slamming the changes, one angry user wrote: "UX Developers need to justify their salaries somehow. The UI was already fine, but they need to justify why Google has to pay them so they'll keep working on pointless and bad updates."

Another grumbled: "Everyone is complaining about these ui changes, some said they'd stop watching yt, others cancelled their premium etc I really hope they make it back to the way it was. 🙏."
A third fumed: "That UI is disgraceful. Whoever made this and whoever approved the idea to redesign it should be fired."
Not everyone was fussed by the changes, as someone concluded: "People say literally the same things every time the UI gets updated, and then after a few weeks everyone gets used to changes and stops giving a f**k. This change is not something that will kill YouTube lmao."

While the addition of the birthday cake on the slider is just a temporary nod to YouTube's 20th anniversary, those pesky rounded corners look like they'll be here to stay.
Even though you might not agree with the many calls in the comments to fire those behind the UI overhaul, it's admittedly not the most aesthetically pleasing update that's ever been rolled out.
YouTubers will notice the smallest detail, like a slight change to the colors of the progress bar or its redesigned home page testing out hiding a video's view count.
Still, at least this backlash isn't as petty as the time YouTube changed its logo for the first time in seven years.

It seems that YouTube will never win, and while we don't agree that any of the above is enough of a reason to cancel your YouTube Premium subscription, we guess you have the right to have an opinion on something you're paying for.
