Elon Musk lashes out at hacking group Anonymous following savage election prediction

Elon Musk lashes out at hacking group Anonymous following savage election prediction

The tech billionaire has some choice words for the masked group

War has ignited between X owner Elon Musk and notorious hacking group Anonymous after the tech billionaire responded directly to a fierce election claim.

It's no surprise to anyone that has spent any amount of time on X that its owner, Musk, has a tendency for hostility and streams of posts. Controversy has followed him on the site for years, even before he purchased the social media behemoth back in October 2022.

From squabbles with some of the site's most popular users, to disputes with elected officials, Musk certainly has no limits to who he's willing to challenge in what he has previously called "the global town square."

However, he might have taken things a bit too far this time, as he's decided to wage war with the infamous hacking group Anonymous, who are known for their wide scale cyberattacks and anarchist practices.

Following Donald Trump's election win, Musk replied to a post from Anonymous back in August which wrote: "When Trump loses the election, Elon is going to dissolve and liquidate Twitter."

In response, Musk retorted: "Change your handle to @YourLibtardNews. It's more accurate."

One thing that we can almost guarantee from this is that Musk must have had that post saved in his bookmarks for a while, as it seems like it really struck a chord with the billionaire.

The social media response to the altercation has been, as expected, rather hot, with replies ranging from "mic drop" to "drag em!"

Many are simply reeling at the sheer interaction between the two 'forces', with multiple users proclaiming that they're "never deleting this app." We're not sure everyone will be following that sentiment in the near future though.

Among the respondents, of course, were Anonymous themselves, who released a flurry of furious replies back in Musk's direction. One argued that "you're literally a neo-liberal bro lol" as a response to the 'Lib' aspect of Musk's proposed handle, while another thanked the billionaire for the group's new 'Twitter livestream name'.

The main - and most liked - retort though implored Musk to avert his attention, and funds, elsewhere: "Thanks for the suggestion, how about helping some homeless and poor people with all those unlimited funds ya got? Call us all the names you want - but helping the poor is always the right thing to do."

Anonymous continued to reiterate this point in a standalone tweet which screenshotted the original interaction, reminding readers that "before Elon's greed gripped ahold of him, he was giving funds to democrats."

As expected, there hasn't been any further response from Musk's side, but many are still coming to his defense.

The top reply to Anonymous' standalone post does sum up the situation quite astutely though, with the user arguing that this situation "shows you how much he must be reading all of us s******* on his stupid a**."

If there's one thing that's hard to deny, it's that Elon sees most things that are said about him - both the good and the bad.
