Joe Rogan loses number one spot on Spotify to podcast with just one episode

One podcasting debutant has shaken up the charts in a major way

Joe Rogan has finally been toppled off of his top spot on the Spotify US podcast charts by an entirely new show that has just one episode so far.

Joe Rogan has been a consistent presence at the upper echelons of the podcast world since he began The Joe Rogan Experience back in December 2009.

Spanning over 2,200 episodes at the time of writing, Rogan has had a number of high profile guests on his show including Elon Musk, Donald Trump, Bernie Sanders, and Edward Snowden.

This has allowed him to gain an incredibly large viewer base, and while fellow creator PewDiePie isn't exactly a fan, it's hard to deny that Rogan can captivate an audience.

This has led him to be a mainstay at the top of Spotify's US podcast charts - likely helped by the exclusivity deal he signed for $200 million back in 2020, but it might appear that his reign has come to an end by the hand of a new challenger.

Following the launch of the first episode on December 5, 2024, 'Not Gonna Lie with Kylie Kelce' hosted by - you guessed it - Kylie Kelce, soared right up to first place, dethroning Rogan for the first time in a number of years.

Kylie is no stranger to the podcasting world though, as her husband, former Philadelphia Eagles star Jason Kelce, hosts his own podcast with brother Jason, who himself has catapulted to fame in the past year after pairing up with Taylor Swift.

It's then not hard to understand why Kylie Kelce's podcasting debut would be so immediately popular with a wider US audience, and you have to wonder whether there's a new leader in the podcasting world.

The first episode, which focuses on her pregnancy and parenthood, claims that Kylie "has a lot to catch you up on" since her appearances in the well-watched 'Kelce' documentary and her husband's podcast - branded "that other podcast taping in the other room."

Social media has had a positive reaction to the news too, with X users praising Kylie's rapid rise on the charts.

"She's going to become a powerhouse quickly," one claims, whereas another states "this is actually wild, very happy for her!!"

Some offer concerns over the validity of the news, as one user remarks: "If true that's actually very impressive. No one has surpassed Rogan for years. I find this hard to believe."

Others raise worries about the long-term stability of the podcast, arguing: "One episode? I guess it's just curiosity; the challenge is to keep the listeners."

That's a task that many podcasts have proven to be difficult, and part of the reason why Rogan has remained at the top of the food chain for so long, but Kelce fever is definitely undeniable in America right now so who knows what the future holds.

Things aren't all doom and gloom for The Joe Rogan Experience though, as he still sits second in the US charts, and also holds the top three spots in the Episodes rankings.
