As the fears surrounding the possibility of World War Three continue to grow, a lot of people are searching for locations that could be deemed ‘safe zones’.
Vladimir Putin’s threats have escalated and just a few weeks ago, the Russian leader revealed that his country would only need to be attacked with a conventional weapon for him to pull the trigger on a nuclear rebuttal.
In that event, you’d obviously want to steer clear of any major cities, especially in the West.

So, where is safe?
If a nuclear war does break out, here are some of the places that are considered safest to escape to:
Antarctica
First off, it’s one of the most remote places in the world and therefore has very little benefit for any war leader to attack.
Advert
There’s also plenty of uninhabited space to take shelter - just make sure you pack your woolly hat.
Iceland
Another icy destination could be a safe haven as it’s another remote area. Iceland is also considered to be one of the most peaceful countries in the world.
Having never taken part in a war before, it’s unlikely to be a target.
Greenland
You might have cottoned on to a theme here - Greenland is very remote.
Advert
It has a stance of political neutrality and the population of the large land is only 56,000.
Switzerland
Famous for its stance on peace, Switzerland is likely to be a good spot to seek refuge.
Advert
The country remained neutral during World War Two and also has a lot of nuclear fallout shelters to hide in.
New Zealand
While it hasn’t always been neutral during conflict, New Zealand is unlikely to get caught up in a nuclear war started by Putin.
The country is also very mountainous, meaning there are plenty of locations for people to take shelter from any possible attack.
Indonesia
It’s a very small country where officials have stated that their biggest concern is over world peace.
Advert
Indonesia has even said that they will never take sides in a conflict.
Chile
On the other side of the planet, Chile spans over 4,000 miles, with plenty of room to take shelter.
The country has a vast variety of crops too which could help people escaping conflict to survive.
Fiji
The small island ranks high on the Global Peace Index and therefore is unlikely to engage in conflict.
South Africa
In terms of survival, South Africa might be the place to go. There are various sources of food and fresh water to help people who are escaping conflict to survive.
