Microsoft is quietly putting an end to a popular app and fans aren’t happy to see it go.
It’s sadly time to say goodbye to a much loved app that’s particularly used by aspiring artists honing their craft.
The tech giant is axing an app that has been a staple of theirs since 2017 but fans have now discovered that they won't be able to enjoy it for much longer, with one user calling it the “end of an era”.

The app in question is Paint 3D where animations can be created and designed. It enabled its users to make 3D artwork that could be edited from every angle.
In the app description on the Microsoft Store, it reads: “Whether you're an artist or just want to try out some doodles, Paint 3D makes it easy to unleash your creativity and bring your ideas to life.”
It was originally meant to be a replacement for Paint but the two apps have coexisted for the last seven years.

However, that will all soon come to an end after it was revealed that Paint 3D now has a banner which states that it’ll no longer receive updates or be available in the Microsoft Store for much longer.
The official end date is November 4th, meaning you have until then to download the app if you want to keep using it.
Even if you do get it before it shuts down, it won’t be functional forever as phone updates will eventually mean that the app will no longer be playable on your device.

It’s safe to say that fans have been less than impressed by the news.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, to share their thoughts, one user wrote: “It's better than classic MS Paint, and has no AI or MS accounts unlike the new Paint. This is just good, and it must live on.”
Another said: “It's a shame, honestly. They could've integrate it to the regular Paint.”

While a third person joked: “Paint was to be replaced with Paint 3D, now Paint 3D will be replaced with Paint lol.”
Microsoft also recently announced that the Start Menu on Windows 11 will soon begin to display advertisements.
Claiming that this will help users to find new apps that are available, the firm said: “The Recommended section of the Start menu will show some Microsoft Store apps.
“These apps come from a small set of curated developers.”
