The Daily Show has seen the likes of Jimmy Carter, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden all get grilled, but while current President of the United States Donald Trump is yet to sit in the chair opposite Jon Stewart, his name is never far from the lips of the late-night talk show.
Even though Elon Musk is another who has avoided Stewart’s glare, his position as a "special government employee" and the head of the Department of Government Efficiency makes him a popular request.
Even though Musk is happy to chew the fat about Fort Knox conspiracy theories with Joe Rogan, he seems a little more reluctant to appear on The Daily Show.

This whole saga started when Stewart tore into the Department of Government Efficiency and its attempts to slash $2 trillion from government spending. The Daily Show host ranted about the DOGE and suggested that we should take profits from Big Pharma, then went on to smash a coffee cup and unexpectedly cut his hand.
In the aftermath of Stewart taking down DOGE, Musk responded to one person's request for him to go on the show and tell his side of the story.
The world's richest man has just one condition, adding: "I will do it if the show airs unedited."

The Daily Show seemingly has no problem with this, responding to this and saying it would love to have the tech mogul as a guest.
Stewart says he's game to have Musk come onto the show and accept his caveat, continuing: “After thinking about his offer, I thought, 'Hey, that’s actually how these in-studio interviews normally air.' So, sure."
Offering to 'sweeten' the pot, Stewart said it can be 15 minutes, an hour, two hours, or whatever, and joked: "I’ll be honest, I don’t think this network makes any other programming. So we can do whatever the f**k we want, as long as we wrap before the new season of South Park comes out."

The tale took another twist when Stewart said he saw another post from Musk where he seemingly pulled back from the idea of appearing and said: "Jon is too set in his ways. He used to be more bipartisan."
This clearly rattled Stewart, who continued to say: "The guy who custom-made his own Dark MAGA hat, that he wears to opine in the Oval Office with the president he spent $270 million to elect, thinks I’m just too partisan.
"Look, Elon. I do have some criticisms about DOGE... If you want to come on and talk about it on the show, great. If you don’t want to, sure.
"But can we just drop the pretense that you won’t do it because I don’t measure up to the standards of neutral discourse that you demand and display at all times? Because quite frankly, that’s bullsh*t."

He concluded by succinctly saying, "You know it. I know it. Bullsh*t."
If Musk and Stewart can settle their differences, it sounds like it could be an edition of The Daily Show for the ages.
