It's been a wild year for Haliey Welch, or as you most of you might know her, Hawk Tuah Girl. At the start of 2024, most hadn't heard of Welch, but after going viral in a June vox pop with Tim & Dee TV, she wasted no time making the most of her newfound fame. As well as launching her Talk Tuah podcast, Welch released an AI-powered dating app and even tried to get into the world of cryptocurrency with her $HAWK memecoin.
The latter saw her grab headlines for all the wrong reasons, with Welch being accused of misleading investors via a 'pump and dump' crypto scheme. Her critics have been vocal, with influencer Astrid Wett even branding her 'disgusting'.

Amid calls for Welch to face jail time and a real possibility that she could be charged with security fraud, the previously vocal Hawk Tuah Girl has gone pretty quiet. Her team has finally broken its silence with 'the truth', but with the latest episode of Talk Tuah being nowhere to be found, it seems Welch has gone to ground.
An awkward situation saw someone change her Wikipedia and make light of the last time the internet heard from Welch. In the aftermath of $HAWK's flop, Welch appeared on an X space and didn't say much. She signed off with, "Anywho, I'm going to go to bed and I'll see you guys tomorrow," and that was pretty much it.
A look at the revisions on her Wikipedia page includes an edit that removed the following passage: "Welch later abruptly left the conversation in the middle of investor Nick O'Neal expressing concerns. 'Hi guys! I hate to interrupt you Nick, but, hello there, but, anyhoo I’m going to go to bed and I’ll see you guys tomorrow,' she quipped.
"She has not been heard from publicly since, and is presumed to still be asleep."

Over on X, many found the situation funny, but for Welch, it could be about to get a lot worse. As reported by Bloomberg Law, Tuah The Moon Foundation is being sued by investors.
Although Welch herself is not a named defendant, the foundation based in the Cayman Islands, creator OverHere Ltd., executive Clinton So, and promoter Alex Larson Schultz are all accused of creating a 'frenzy' to drum up interest in the memecoin, with substantial losses leaving investors out of pocket. It has also been claimed that they failed to register the cryptocurrency with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

The complaint says the memecoin tried to 'take advantage of the American market', with defendants claiming they lost a combined $151,000. OverHere has continued to defend itself in a statement, adding: "We have been extremely transparent about the limited scope and extent of our involvement in the Hawk Tuah token project.
“We are confident that we have done nothing wrong. As for any litigation, we will let the process play out in court."
The mystery of Welch's whereabouts remains a mystery, and as the internet continues to make jokes, it doesn't look like this is a situation that's going away anytime soon.
