Elon Musk isn't a happy guy at the moment, with the controversial head of the Department of Government Efficiency calling out Mike Myers of his Saturday Night Live impression. In the aftermath of Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's meeting with President Donald Trump, the media has been in a flurry, dissecting the disastrous interaction.
It was only a matter of time until SNL poked fun at things, and while Dana Carvey had previously portrayed Musk in the skit, Myers stepped up with his own take on the tech mogul. Elon Musk wasn't at the White House when Zelenskyy, but it didn't stop Myers from pulling off a pretty solid impression that poked fun at his recent dramas.
The world's richest man is no stranger to SNL, and back in 2021, he performed his own opening monologue.

Saying he was the first person with Asperger's to open SNL, Musk continued: "I reinvented electric cars and I’m sending people to Mars on a rocket ship. Did you think I was going to be a chill, normal dude?”

He referenced his son X and said X Æ A-12 is "pronounced ‘cat running across keyboard’," while his mother, Maye Musk, also appeared in the monologue.
With the clip resurfacing, the comments were split.

One comment said: "Watching this in 2025. Oh, how they used to love 😘 him!"
Another alleged: "And now he's a fascist. How times have changed."
A third said: "This guy is now running the US government and wishes to abolish social security. The slide from 2022 to 2024 will be studied."
There's been much debate about Musk and his changing views, with his own father talking about an incident in 2016 where Elon and his brother referred to Donald Trump as 'evil'. Musk was previously vocally against Trump, telling CBS ahead of the 2016 election: "I feel a bit stronger that he is not the right guy. He doesn’t seem to have the sort of character that reflects well on the United States."

They managed to bury the hatchet when Musk was appointed to an economic advisory council, although he quickly resigned when Trump announced the USA was going to withdraw from the Paris Climate Agreement.
It was Trump who brought them back together, likening Musk to Thomas Edison in 2022 and referring to him as one of the world’s "great geniuses." Still, they argued back and forth, particularly when Trump was kicked off X (formerly Twitter) and jokes about Musk being forced to drop to his knees and beg for help.
Things are very different these days, with Musk firmly by Trump's side on the campaign trail in 2024.
Although he doesn't have an office in the White House, Musk's role as the head of the DOGE has seen him claim the title of 'First Buddy'. Musk is so close to the POTUS, some have even referred to him as 'President Musk', with others claiming he's the one really pulling the strings at the top.

Looking back at Musk's SNL monologue, it's amazing how much things can change in four short years.
