The safest place to be if a zombie apocalypse broke out in the UK

The safest place to be if a zombie apocalypse broke out in the UK

Bad news for a certain area.

Whilst some studies delve into lab-grown eel or pandemic babies, other research is investigating the survival ratings of areas in the UK in the event of an apocalypse.

Online casino JeffBet's study determined the safest - and most dangerous - places to survive a zombie or alien apocalypse in the UK.

Turns out, you might not be as lucky as Simon Pegg in Shaun of the Dead if you're in London during a zombie outbreak.

Nine London boroughs were confirmed to be the worst areas overall to survive an unexpected onslaught, including Lewisham, Tower Hamlets, Newham and Lambeth.

The UK casino claimed that the large population in London would quickly lead to resource shortages and limited opportunities for scavenging food.

Turning to the most likely place to survive, the Scottish Highlands claimed the top spot with a score of 74.04 out of a potential 130 points.

This makes sense when you think of hoards of zombies, your best bet is going to be a place with low populations and the most open areas.

It's also going to be much easier to build remote shelters away from any intruding species.

All in all, rural residents have a much better chance at surviving a zombie or alien apocalypse than city dwellers.

‘Unfortunately, it doesn’t look good for those living in London or any other busy UK city. It seems opting for quieter, more remote locations might offer a better chance of survival,’ a reporter for JeffBet said.

Argyll and Bute, and the Orkney Islands also made the leaderboard, with JeffBet justifying their remote location and coastline as a suitable place to fish and stockpile food.

The Eden corner of the Lake District came out a potentially safe place for England inhabitants at #5. Similarly, Gwynedd and Powys were deemed safe for Welsh residents, ranking #6 and #10 respectively.

Surprisingly, the city of Stirling made the top 10 of best places to survive at #9 as well as the only city serving as a 'potential safe haven in apocalyptic circumstances.'

'In fact, it’s good news for Scottish residents, as the study revealed there are plenty of Scottish areas perfect for surviving and hiding from the dangers of urban areas,' the spokesperson added.

Commenting on the unique study, the JeffBet reporter summarised: ‘It’s fascinating to discover which parts of the UK offer the best shot at survival during an apocalypse, with less populated areas and abundant natural resources coming out on top.'
