The idea of living in a spinning house isn't for everyone especially if you’re someone who's prone to motion sickness.
But, believe it or not, they actually exist. Just ask Vojin Kusic, a Bosnian self-taught innovator who famously upgraded his home so his wife wouldn’t get bored of seeing the same view every day.
YouTuber Tom Scott took a close look at these architectural designs and discovered that there are a whole load of benefits to a house that rotates 360 degrees. In his video from 2023, the content creator visited a unique house near San Diego, California, that was specifically built to rotate full circle.

And honestly, from the outside, it looks somewhat like a modernised UFO, but you might not have guessed it could spin.
The power is in the design. According to Scott, the rotating design lets the entire house rotate around a central pillar without getting all the wires and pipes tangled up. That pillar holds all the important stuff like electricity and water lines, and figuring out how to keep everything connected while spinning was a major engineering hurdle.
As Scott demonstrates in his video, the rotation itself isn’t super speedy; it only uses 1.5 horsepower, so it's not enough to make you dizzy.

It takes about 45 minutes to complete a full circle and if you're hosting guests you can choose what rooms will face the sunset at any time you like.
Scott later added under his video that on the basement floor, there's an extra turntable so you users can park their car and 'not have to reverse out.'
Surprisingly, the house isn't super new or retro either, as, according to the owner and designer, construction started on the smart house around the year 2000.

That said, building and maintaining a spinning house isn’t exactly a DIY project. The engineering behind keeping everything moving while keeping plumbing and gas lines intact is nothing short of impressive.
As the homeowners got older, keeping the house running smoothly became too much work and the pair ended up putting it on the market.
Needless to say, people are astounded in the comments under the video, with thousands agreeing with this comment: "This guy is incredible. Not even an architect, designed the house just to live in it, and it works great? If there was a feature-length documentary about this guy and his house, I'd watch it."
Another added: "He made the house for good reason, he sells the house for good reason. What a man."
