CDs might seem like a thing of the past.
First replaced by MP3s and iPods took over - and now overshadowed by streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music.
But while most CDs have little to no resale value, some rare and limited-edition releases are now worth a small fortune - sometimes even more than vinyl records.

Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic, and Dave Grohl dropped 'Pennyroyal Tea' in April 1994, but the single was recalled immediately after Cobain’s tragic death. Though a few copies made it into circulation, because of its rarity and emotional significance, this CD now sells for $2,500 - $3,000.
Michael Jackson - Smile
Michael Jackson's 'Smile' was never officially released, so it doesn’t appear in his discography.
However, if you somehow managed to get a copy of the unreleased disc with its iconic Charlie Chaplin cover, they're going for around $1,900.
David Bowie - Sound + Vision
Bowie’s legendary 1989 box set is one of the hardest CDs to get your hands on - and prices have skyrocketed over the years. If you happen to have a copy sitting in your collection, it's likely gone up from the $5,200 fetched for one on eBay in 2013.
And while you're sorting through your old childhood memorabilia, remember that there's a collectors market for certain books and retro games - so make sure to take a closer look before throwing anything out!
