Sony launched their highly anticipated PS5 Pro today (September 10) but fans are all furious about one thing — the price.
Following months of leaks and endless anticipation from fans, Sony finally dropped an upgraded version of their PS5 console at a technical presentation today led by lead developer Mark Cerny.
Launching on November 7 2024, the PS5 Pro boasts three key upgraded features — a larger GPU, custom AI-driven upscaling and advanced ray tracing. Playstation have branded the new console as 'the most visually impressive way to play games on PlayStation'.

The PS5 Pro seems to match the sleek white design of the PS5, taking notes from the slim model.
It didn't take long for PlayStation fans to take to social media to express their opinions on the release, the main issue being that price point.

Within an hour of the announcement fans took to Reddit to express their disappointment with one user writing: "$700 dollars! I'm not sure if that's worth an upgrade honestly"
Another pointed out that the console doesn't even come with a disc tray saying: "also 700$ and no disc tray at all, have to buy the attachment if u want to play any of you old games. what a joke"
In a similar vain a third user wrote: "What even is this? Moderate improvements to already existing games? Sometimes multiple years old? Why? And $700?! That's wild."

Fans took to X, formerly Twitter, to express their unhappiness too, with one British user pointing out that the price over in the UK is the exact same as the US: "Of course the Brits have to pay more for it too."
Another X user wrote: Meanwhile a fourth commented: "I knew it was gonna be expensive but I was still shocked."
Cerny said the PS5 Pro is 'the most powerful console we’ve ever built' and added that the intention was to solve a problem gamers had been facing for years on whether they should play in so-called 'fidelity mode' favoring high-quality visuals or 'performance mode' making for a smoother game with lower quality picture.
Interestingly, the BBC spoke to GamesIndustry.biz head Christopher Dring who explains that the latest console was targeted for PlayStation's 'most enthusiastic audience'.
