The legendary Silent Hill franchise is making its return to the gaming world once again with Silent Hill f, the first mainline entry in well over a decade.
Although announced back in 2022 as part of Konami’s revival of the horror series, talk of Silent Hill f, slowly faded, with not much being heard since. Now, however, the new game is back on our radars thanks to a new trailer dropped during a Silent Hill Transmissions stream on March 13.
The first mainline entry since 2012’s Silent Hill: Downpour, Silent Hill f is said to come with the promise to bring back the chilling psychological horror fans know and love, with a new twist to the formula.

Set in the 1960s, Silent Hill f takes place in the small, rural Japanese town of Ebisugaoka, inspired by Kanayama in Gifu Prefecture. The game’s protagonist, Shimizu Hinako, is an ordinary teenager whose peaceful life is turned upside down when her town is engulfed in thick fog and becomes twisted in horrific ways.
The game introduces a new, uniquely Japanese flavor to its horror, adding a new angle to the eerie atmosphere the series is known for.
Developed by NeoBards Entertainment (known for their work on Resident Evil), the game brings in fresh creative talent, with Ryukishi07 – the writer behind When They Cry – crafting the story.
The character and creature design is handled by Kera, whose eerie creations promise to leave a lasting mark on the series. In addition to this, Silent Hill f will see the return of the franchise’s iconic composer, Akira Yamaoka, who’ll be contributing music for the Fog World of Ebisugaoka.

The haunting atmosphere will also be enriched by Kensuke Inage, known for his work on Tekken 8 and Samurai Showdown, who will compose music for the Otherworld (referred to as the Dark Shrine in this installment).
There’s also an intriguing shift away from the familiar Silent Hill town setting, with Konami emphasizing that while the physical location may be different, the game still retains the franchise’s core focus: psychological horror and the battle with one’s inner demons.
Ryukishi07 highlighted the franchise's consistent portrayal of "characters' struggles with the evil within themselves," adding that the game will serve as a "gateway into the psychological battles of the human mind."
