Good news for Android fans: millions of Google Pixel and Samsung users can expect a huge free upgrade this year.
Tech giant Google announced the launch of Android 15 just a few days ago.
The major software update will focus primarily on privacy and security, supporting app developers, and maximising device performance, according to the Alphabet-owned company.

Engineer David Burke announced that the latest update would also build on of Android 14 in terms of Health Connect, adding 'support for new data types across fitness, nutrition, and more.'
SamMobile has shared the list of compatible Samsung Galaxy devices that can expect to receive the software package, ranging from the new S24 devices to the older Samsung models.

Although full details haven't been revealed about what new features are rolling out in Android 15, we do know that it will offer improved performance and efficiency when it comes to apps.
Specifically, Google has tweaked the GPU, CPU and thermal systems of its smartphones to help operate long-running background tasks more efficiently.
Android users will also see better security and privacy features, including stronger protections against malware as well as the launch of the latest version of the Privacy Sandbox.

Moreover, users will see improved camera features for third-party apps such as Instagram and Snapchat that will allow low-light previews and flash functions.
Once the update rolls out for beta testing, Google Pixel owners will be the first to receive the new update. Then, Samsung users will be offered their version in the latter half of 2024. Experts predict it could happen around the same time as the Pixel 9 series launch in October 2024.
